Welcome to summer series twenty twenty six, The List Family Murders. In November of nineteen seventy one, forty six year old husband and father, John List murdered his mother Alma, his wife Helen, and his three children, sixteen year old Patty, fifteen year old John, Frederick, and thirteen year old Frederick in their Westfield, New Jersey mansion. Before fleeing, John remained on the run for eighteen years. He changed his identity, got remarried, got a new job, and seemingly blended into regular life and flew under the radar until nineteen eighty nine after an America's Most Wanted broadcast where he was finally apprehended. In this series, we're going to be discussing John List, his upbringing, his background, the List's family's life, and the horrific murders and how he remained on the run for eighteen years. We will also be victim focused and remember Helen, Almah and the children Pattie, John, Frederick and Frederick. Let's go back to nineteen seventy one in Westfield, New Jersey and dive in.
