Khadija Derry

All witnesses, pursas of interest, and suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Hey guys, welcome back to Primetime Crime. It's Kylie. We have a few things to discuss for right now and True Crime before we dive in to today's episode. So we are going to go ahead and get started, starting with another arrest in the Savannah Soto and Matthew Guerrera case. I felt like it was coming. I knew that there was a third person that might have been semi involved, directly, indirectly, whatever it may be. And on Wednesday, they announced that they arrested Murder Romanos and in connection with the Savannah Sodo and Matthew Guerrera capital murder case. And she was charged with abuse of a corpse, tamperom with evidence as well as altering, destroying, concealing a human corpse. So what San Antonio Police Department has said, I'm gonna read it directly from the affidavit that was released. They had gone to the Preciato residence and questioned, of course, Christopher and Ramone and they were taken into custody. And on January fourth, they spoke to murder Romanos, who I believe is the either girlfriend or wife of Ramon, maybe like a stepmom to Christopher. I'm not really sure. I don't think it was his mom, like blood like maternal person. But they went and spoke to her and she stated that on the night of the incident, she was at her residence and she was there with Ramon and Christopher, and she couldn't recall the events of that evening and thought that she was probably sleeping. They searched the residence and her bedroom door was like and they inquired about unlocking the door. She provided the key so they could unlock it, and she said that she kept the door locked and that she was the only person to have the key to the room. During the search of the room, they found a firearm which was later forensically forensically matched to the shellcasings recovered in the victim's vehicle. It was found concealed in the room, and during her interview, she was questioned about the recovered firearm and she claimed that it was hers and was given to her by a family member. And on January fiz is when they discovered that the shell casings match forensically, and during the statements made by her she intentionally concealed the firearm in an attempt to impair its availability as evidence during an investigation, and they said that they do believe that murder Ramanos's honor about the twenty first day of December of twenty twenty three, concealed evidence in an attempt to impair its availability as evidence during an investigation, and violation of Section number thirty seven point zero nine of the Penal Code of the State of Texas, meaning she is charged with all the things I said that she was charged with earlier. Were not surprised. I felt like we knew it was coming. There was that surveillance video where there was that towel involved. She's the one, I think that is the one that handed the towel to Ramone. And that is what is going on in that case right now. It is wild. It is crazy. Hopefully there's no more people involved so we can finally get the ball rolling on getting justice for Savannah and Matthew. More breaking news this week, in a cold case from the eighties, they have tied a man named Alan Wade Wilmer Senior. He has been identified as a suspect in three cold case homicides in Virginia in the nineteen eighties, and two of them were the Colonial Parkway murders, which I might cover on the pod at some point in time. But he was a former fisherman and he was identified by forensic evidence in the nineteen eighty seven double murder of David Nobling who was twenty and Robin Edwards who was fourteen, and in the nineteen eighty nine murder of Teresa Lynn spaul Hall, who was twenty nine. He unfortunately passed away in twenty seventeen at the age of sixty three. But it just goes to show you it is never too late to figure out what happened in some of these super cold cases. These cases happened in nineteen eighty seven and nineteen eighty nine. It is never too late to bring someone to justice. Unfortunately, he did pass away, so they are unable to bring charges, but they did say that if he were alive, they would be filing charges against him. In connection with the three deaths. A statement was shared on behalf of the families and the statement is as follows. For thirty six years, our families have lived in a vacuum of the unknown. We have lived in the fear of worrying that a person capable of deliberately killing Robin and David could attack and kill another victim. We now have a sense of relief and justice knowing that he could no longer victimize another end quote, and then it went on to say his death will not allow us to seek out the answer to countless questions that have haunted us for so long end quote. So their deaths were one of four double slayings that became dubbed the Colonial Parkway murders that occurred along or near the area in Virginia from nineteen eighty six to nineteen eighty nine. Obviously, it does seem like it could be the work of one person, just because of the proximity of where they were found and the fact that they were all double slayings. There is also the positive identification of him as the suspect in the Teresa linspall Hal case, and she was last seen on July first of nineteen eighty nine outside of a Zodiac club in Hampton, and they later would find the remains of her. They found female clothing. They were able to say that she died from strangulation and she had been sexually assaulted, and the statement from her family is as follows. We would like to express our gratitude to all investigators involved in the investigation of Terry's death. Their dedication, relentless efforts, and evolving technology has brought us closure that we have sought over the last thirty four years. While we are grateful for the closure that has been provided, nothing will bring Terry back. The void left by her absence over the years is inexpressible. We kindly request privacy as we navigate through a host of new emotions that this brings. End quote, this really is a big deal, and no matter how old a case is, it is never too late to get justice. Even though this person that did this horrible thing and is probably responsible for a lot more murders is passed away, is deceased, at least the family has closure as to not necessarily what happened, but knowing that that person that hurt their family member can never do it to anyone else, and that, in the end is justice in some way, shape or form. So now Virginia State Police and the FBI are asking the public for information about Wilmer to see if he's possibly linked to more cases. He was a fisherman. He was known to own a nineteen seventy six wooden commercial fishing boat that he called the Denny Wade, and during the time of the Slags he worked as a fisherman farming clams and oysters, and also ran a business called Better Tree Service. And he is also known to be an avid hunter and belonged to a hunt club in the Middle Peninsula region. And investigators are definitely going to be looking in to see if he is potentially connected to the other Colonial Parkway murders. And of course they still want people to come forward if they know anything or think that they recognize him as somebody that they may have seen in the area around the time, because it is not too late to come forward, no matter if he is deceased or not. So huge breaking news in the cold case world, A big, big deal. And why I do what I do as a podcaster telling about cold unsolved cases, some that happened before I was even born. So I think that is all we're going to cover for right now in true crime. There really isn't anything major else going on. Of course, now that I've recorded this, it's probably gonna all happen within the next day. Or so, but I will cover that on Monday's episode, but we are going to go ahead and go into today's episode. Is an extremely extremely important situation. It is current, it is not getting any media attention, and that is what I'm here to do, is raise awareness and bring this case to the forefront. So thank you, guys, and we are going to go ahead and get started with today's episode. Okay, guys, diving into a new case today. This is one that just fell into my lap. It is recent and current, and it is not getting hardly any attention, and that is why I'm doing it, because it needs attention. So we've all talked about the Savannah Soto and Matthew Guerrera case that has been pretty much forefront in Texas and I feel like you know nationally as well. Well. But this case happened in Converse, Texas, which is only about fifteen miles northeast of San Antonio, and it has gotten little to no attention. So we are going to talk about the heinous, heinous murder of a twenty two year old woman named Kadisha Dry today And you know, I'm going to get fired up because I'm really fired up right now about this case not getting any attention. It's heinous, it's horrible, and we have to figure out who did this so they don't do it again, because the person that did this is a violent person. It's more than one person. The people that did this are violent people, and they are going to do it again. And this case needs national attention and that is what we're here for. So first thing is, first we're going to talk a little bit about Kadisha and who she was as a person. She was only twenty two years old. So Kiddija Darry was born on November sixth of two thousand and one in San Antonio, Texas. She was very involved in her local church and played an integral role in the youth department. She attended San Antonio Independent School District during her schooling journey and excelled in various sports, including volleyball, track, and basketball, but basketball was where she felt the most comfortable. She was really, really good on the basketball court, and she held the record for the fastest time for the middle school one hundred meter dash, and her basketball skills led to a full basketball scholarship offer at Iowa Western College, and at the time of her passing, she was attending Northeast Lakeview College. She had many accolades and sports and had received many different awards over the years, and she was just an overall very hard and very dedicated to her craft. She also loved shoes and dreamt of being able to travel the world. And she will be remembered by her beautiful and infectious smile. She had a really good group of friends and was very close with her family from everything I have seen, and it's really just tragic that this girl was taken away by God knows who. That's what we're going to talk about next for absolutely no reason. So we are going to talk about the happenings of the day that Kadija ended up being killed, what led up to it, what happened, and then we're going to talk about all of the things that have happened since. Because they did arrest somebody in connection with Kadizha's case, but then ended up telling the family that this person was not connected, So we're going to go ahead and dive right in. Also, I do want to bring up Kadija was in a long term, reallyationship with her boyfriend. He was away at college at the time of her murder, and he's also an athlete. He plays football. He's a really stand up, great kid from everything I've seen, and I just wanted to throw that in there because I feel like he's another one of the living victims of this case, along with Kadisha's close friends and her family. So with all that being said, we are going to dive in on what went on that day. So it was December sixth of twenty twenty three. Kadijah had gone and gotten her hair done and on her way home, she stopped by Chick fil A and got some food, and her family is kind of trying to trace her steps to see if maybe she was followed or someone was watching her. So they do believe that she came down Woodlake Parkway and up to fifteen sixteen into the neighborhood that she lived in to go home. She lived with her mom and some other family members in this neighborhood, and she was sitting in her car outside of her home for a couple of minutes before this incident occurred. So basically what happens is you can see Cadizha's car sitting in front of her home. Again. She's in her car in front of her home in daylight. It's daytime, and this car pulls up, two people get out. There's video of it. It is traumatizing. I will only share it if you want, please reach out and message me because I'm not going to publicly post it. It's traumatizing. Two people get out of this car and they run up and they unload with their guns into Kdiz's car. She literally did not stand a chance. And then they run away and they get back in the car and the car drives off. So we're looking at at least three people because there's a driver of the car, and then there's two guys that get out and do the actual shooting. So we're looking at at least three people. There could potentially be more people in the car. And the video that had been released is from I guess just like a streetcam, and it's a pretty good quality video, but you really can't see a lot in regards to what kind of car, the exact features of the guys, you know, anything like that you really can't make out. But to me, it just seems like enough to be able to move forward with a investigation into who these people are. So, like I said, it's a really traumatizing video to see something like that. Her mom was not home at the time and got a call and got to the scene of the crime asap, and her daughter, unfortunately, had already passed away at that point. I mean, they shot into her car over twenty times, and that is literally overkilled, Like, why would somebody do that? And the people the suspects look to be on the younger side, So you're gonna throw your life away for what? Why are you going to do that. There's a lot of speculation that it was a case of mistaken identity and they thought that Kadija was someone else and they just went up and unloaded into her car. Kadija was not involved in anything nefarious. She didn't associate with people who were into bad things. That was not her vibe. She was a very normal girl, just trying to live her life, minding her own business, went to get her hair done, came home and got killed for absolutely no reason. Her sister believes that she was followed because when the car pulls up and the guys get out, the car pulls up in the opposite direction from which Khadija is, so easily could have been somebody that was like watching her and followed her. But was it targeted? Was it actually supposed to be her that they were targeting, or was it, like I said, a case of mistaken identity, because it really just doesn't make sense that somebody would randomly kill Khadija. She's, from what I've seen, just not that kind of girl that has beef with anyone or deserves that. No one deserves that. But she wasn't involved in anything nefarious, like I said, Like there was no drug dealing activity, there was no gang member activity. Those are the kind of things that you initially want to rule out when you're looking at a crime like this, because going back to Savannah Soto and Matthew Guerrera, that was drug related, so it was kind of easy to see, not that it should have happened, but it was easy to see that that was the motive, and here we don't have a motive. It just makes absolutely no sense that the girl was minding her own business and was killed for absolutely no reason. So initially, san Antonio Peadi did make an arrest and they arrested nineteen year old Joe Isaac Leianez. And there were multiple jurisdictions that were involved in the pursuit and arrest of him. So I'm going to kind of go through some of the things that were said in this article about Joe and then we're going to kind of take it from there. So, they believed that Joe was one of two suspects that they saw on the surveillance video firing into Kadisha's car. They had reviewed some video footage that was found on an Instagram account belonging to Joe, and they said that it connected him to the killing, and they obtained a search warrant after the IP address associated with the Instagram account was established. I don't know what this Insta video is. I don't know any details in regards to that, but when they obtained the search warrant, they found two different types of AMMO and guns found in his bedroom, and both of the guns had been stolen, not shocked. Joe is also accused of engaging in a drive by shooting that injured a nineteen year old man and a baby because he's a horrible human. Regardless of if he's connected to Kadiz's case or not, he's a horrible human. So this happened the same day as Khadizha's murder, when the nineteen year old man was shot while waiting to pick up his girlfriend from work and twenty eight rounds was fired into this man's vehicle. Luckily, the baby was not harmed, but holy crap, like, who does this? So initially everyone thought that this guy, joe Yanna, was connected to the shooting of Kadija, and they thought that because there was some threats that had been made to the Dairy family the day of the shooting. Apparently someone had threatened her. Now I don't know if by her they mean Kadija or Kadizha's younger sister, but they said that she had been threatened by a girl who told her that she and her family were going to get shot or popped and that they could not outrun a switch. Which I don't know anything about guns, but a switch is a device that can be attached to a semi automatic pistol to convert it to a fully automatic firearm. So, circling back to that, Instagram video. Kadisha's uncle had found this video on Instagram that appeared to show that Joe was at the scene. And the video, you can hear a void saying that's the car. That's the car, and then the two men get out of the vehicle. You hear gunshots, and then the men re enter the vehicle, and then someone inside of the car says, come on, come on and hold my switch. Which sounds to me like there is involvement here. It doesn't sound to me like these two things aren't connected. Also, Joe did attend the same high school that Kadija attended, however, they're different ages nineteen and twenty two, and they were able to obtain a older photograph of him from high school, and they said that the photo match facial characteristics and hairstyle of the assailants in the video. But with all of that coming out and arrests being made and all of the things, and there was also another guy who was arrested as well, they are saying that Joe Yannis is not responsible for Kadisha's murder and he has been ruled out as a suspect. He does remain incarcerated. Thank you Jesus, because regardless of if he's involved or not, he's still a really shady character and needs to stay behind bars where he belongs. He also attacked a nineteen year old and a baby because he's a bad person, so regardless of if he's involved or not, he needs to be behind bars. But I don't understand how they've come to the conclusion that he's not involved when there was like a random Instagram video that allegedly matches that was traced back to him. They found guns in his house with that were similar calibers of what was used to shoot Kadija. I just don't understand how this man has been ruled out as a suspect. And if this is unsolved and he is not a suspect, why the hell aren't people talking about it. It is so frustrating to me that something like this happens to this poor girl who literally did nothing wrong but live her life, and she was taken out by straight up thugs who do not have any value for human life whatsoever. It is so dang frustrating, and khadizhous family is doing everything they can to try to bring awareness to this case. That is how I found out about it. They have a Facebook page called Justice for Kadisha Dary. It is only at three thousand members, which is not a lot in the grand scheme of things, considering some of these cases get national, national attention and you have so many different people bringing their armchair expertise and their online sleuthing to these groups. It happens in all the big, high profile cases, and that's what needs to happen in this case. In my opinion, we need attention on this case, we need eyes on this case. We need everybody to be aware that this happened and this could happen again, because the people that did this are not going to stop at just They're gonna keep going. And the sooner we get them off the streets the better and start getting justice for Khadija, because, like I said, she did nothing wrong. She literally was just living her life. And was it a case of mistaken identity? Was it super random? Was she followed? We really don't know, And it does seem to me a little overkill that they shot twenty rounds into her car. If it was random, it seems like it is more of a targeted attack, but probably a case of mistaken identity because I don't believe that anyone had anything against Kadija and would really want to harm her like that. It just doesn't make any sense to me. Like I said, she didn't run in circles like that. She didn't involve herself in things like that. It just wasn't her style to be involved in circles like that and involved with people like that. It's just really sad, and I feel like we need to focus all the attention on this case right now. Savannah Soto and Matthew Guerrera has been solved. Everyone is very much focused on that, at least in the San Antonio area. We need to shift our focus to Khadija because her crime, if what authorities are saying is true, is currently unsolved. They do not have any suspects. They have a pretty clear surveillance video of these two people. They have surveillance video of the car. They have video of the actual shooting. It is horrific, but they have video of the actual shooting, and I feel like everybody needs to do what they can to get the story out there, raise awareness. That is why I want to do this episode, because we need more than just San Antonio, Texas to pay attention to the story. This needs to go further than that in order to really get the word out, because these people could be anywhere point and somebody knows something, somebody saw something, something in someone is going to trigger if they see this video and they're going to be like, oh my god, I know who that is, or whatever the case may be, somebody that they know is acting weird or bragging about killing someone. Eventually it all comes to light. So the more eyes we have on the story, and the more ears we have on the story, the more awareness we build around the story, the better. And that is why I wanted to do this episode. There's really not a ton of information because it did just happen a month ago, but regardless, we need to be sharing the story with everyone we know and letting people know that there are at least three heinous killers out there on the run in Converse, Texas, and like I said, they could be anywhere at this point. And I think that this needs to gain traction and attention and it needs to be shared in more than just Converse. And I really think like social media does have its downsides. Do not get me wrong on that, but I think that in situations like this, when you're so desperate to get your family member's story out there. Social media is the number one way to do it and the quickest way to reach as many people as possible. And I think that's a really amazing thing because social media is solving crimes. Like I get really frustrated with armchair detectives, even though I'm one of them. I get really frustrated with people who are online and they're literally calling suspects out when they have no merit to be calling suspects out, Like you can't do that, first of all, but in general, the internet does want to help, and there's a lot of people over the course of the last couple of decades who have seen something online and have been able to connect it to something and solve a crime. So I think that's a really cool aspect of the Internet, and we have to use it to our advantage in situations like this when they're just not a lot of media coverage, and this is a way to kind of get a story out and for me, I learned about it and now I'm going to share it with my listeners. So it's just like that trickle effect of trying to do better and do right by somebody. So we can solve this case. So, as always I say this with every one of my episodes, please share this story.
