Hey, guys, welcome back to another episode of Primetime Crime. It's Kylie back for my hiatus. I feel like I've been away for a month, even though it's only been like a week and a half. But I feel like it's been longer. Maybe it's only been a week. I don't know. I feel like I've lived a month in the last week, truly. So we were hit, unfortunately by Hurricane Barrel, and let me tell you, for a Category one, she really packed quite the punch. There was so many down trees, so many downpower lines, so many people had their homes destroyed by down trees, which is horrible. And it was just so crazy. The wind was insane. It was a pretty quick moving storm overall, but the way that the wind and everything else just completely uprooted so many trees, it is insane. I had shingles fly off of my roof, like a good honk of shingles fly off of my roof. Luckily I had no other damage, so I was super lucky. But I was without power from Monday to Saturday, and living in Texas in a one hundred and plus degree seventy percent humidity vibe is not fun to not have power. So I luckily got power back on Saturday morning after literally losing my mind fifty five times. So I am so glad to be back in a normal way, to have internet, cable, a way to charge my cell phone, and actually being able to have food in my fridge because I ate like actual garbage for the last week, and I feel like actual garbage because of it. You are what you eat. That is so true. So I am so glad to be back into semi normal ways. I am going to take my time easing myself back into the actual podcast and all, but I did want to do a little Right Now and True Crime update because it has been a hot minute and we have a lot to talk about and a lot to discuss. So this episode is going to be independent on its own of just all the Right Now and True Crime updates, and then on Friday, I will release a Unsolved Case, part one of two I think of an unsolved case, and we are going to slowly be working on getting back on track because I love this podcast. I love doing this podcast and in some way like it is a form of therapy and sanity for me. So I can't wait to jump back in and get back to quote unquote normal. So let's dive right into right now and true crime. Okay, so first things first, we have got to talk about the Alec Baldwin trial. I was in the midst of like losing my mind insanity during all of this, so I really didn't get a chance to like watch or keep up with any other corproceeedings or anything like that. But I do know that the trial started, they picked a jerry. Day one happened, and then day two happened. It seemed that things were moving kind of in a good direction for the prosecution. They of course laid out their case against Alec Baldwin, and of course, the whole premise of all of these charges is that he did not follow proper gun safety protocol when he was handed this gun, and that ended in the unfortunate death of Helena Hutchins, who was a cinemphotographer, and he also injured a director. So the whole premise of this case is that, first of all, it never should have happened, which it shouldn't have, and that he improperly handled the prop gun and that resulted in the death of Helena. Now, this whole time, Alec Baldwin has maintained that he did not pull the trigger on the gun and that he had no idea that there was live ammunition actually in the gun. There was also testimony from the gun manufacturer who said that there is no way that the gun could fire without pulling the actual trigger, which then goes back on what Alec is saying that he never pulled the trigger on the gun. So the trial was going seemingly pretty well for the prosecution. I feel like they were laying things out pretty nicely, and given the fact that Hannah Gutier's Reid has also been tried and convicted of involuntary manslaughter, I thought that this was kind of going in the same direction. But on Friday, which was the official third day of the trial, July twelfth, there was a motion to dismiss the charges against Alec Baldwin made by Alec Baldwin's attorney, And the premise for this motion to dismiss was brought on because they were claiming that the state had violated what is known as the Brady Rule, which essentially requires prosecution to disclose material exculpatory information in the government's possession to the defense. So they later went on to say that they had learned that there was a crime scene technician who had testified the day prior that there was a man named Troy Tesky who was a friend of thell Reed now Fell is the father of Hannah Gutierra's Reid, that he had turned over ammunition to authorities that he thought was connected to the case. Alec Baldwin's attorneys said that the defense was never made aware of this, and they therefore were robbed of their own ability to determine if this was relevant, accurate information or not. Along with all of that, the prosecutor who gave the opening statements of the Alec Balden trial resigned right then and there on the spot Friday morning. She then went on to say that she joined as a special pro secutor on this case in April, and she had no idea about this evidence. It had been given to the Sheriff's office prior to her signing on to the case. Basically, this whole thing was a hot mess from beginning to end. I think that they very much did not have it figured out. They think they had it figured out. They thought Hannah's case is done and over. We have a slam dunk of a case against Alec. We are going to get him for this involuntary manslaughter. And I think that they seriously dropped the ball and were very, very messy and the trial, the case against Alec Baldwin was dismissed right then and there and he cannot be brought up on any additional charges. And I wholeheartedly know Alec Baldwin did not intentionally kill that woman. I know that, and I'm sure this going on for as long as it has since twenty twenty one has been a huge ordeal for him, and I'm sure he is more than relieved that this is over. He was very emotional. Judge dismissed him and it ended the way it ended. I was so shocked that it ended this way. But honestly, this is why it is so important as a prosecutor, as a defense attorney, whatever side you were on, to do things in the ethical way, because the second that anything is uncovered that you did that wasn't ethical, you were going to be called for it and it could definitely end in what happened here, the case is dismissed. He can never be brought up on charges again. And in a case like this, of course, like I said, I don't think Alec Baldwin intentionally set out to harm anybody. Of course he didn't. But if this was a case where it was somebody who intentionally caused harm to somebody and the prosecution let something like that slip through the cracks, it could end in that person being let out and free to commit another crime. If anything, I think with this tragedy, what we can learn is that accidents do happen. There are steps that need to be taken, Armors need to be held responsible for their role in things, and everybody as a collective needs to work together to make sure that people on these productions are safe and that there is no live AMMO in these situations so someone doesn't accidentally get hurt. So at the end of the day, that's what it's about. It's about honoring Helena Hutchins and her legacy and the fact that things are going to be drastically changing on the set of movie productions because of this unfortunate tragedy. Now we are switching gears in the case of Rachel Morin's killer, who is named Victor Antonio Martinez Hernandez. He has been arrested and charged with the murder of Rachel and they are officially seeking life without parole. And I think it is just so interesting that this man committed such a horrific crime where he was from nl Salvador, came to the United States, committed another crime against a mom and her daughter, then moved on to Maryland and murdered Rachel, and god knows what he did in between that time that he murdered Rachel and was officially caught, because I do feel like this man was super dangerous and he wasn't going to stop until he eventually was caught. So it's going to be really interesting to see what goes on with everything in regards to his case, what comes out, and I will continue to keep you guys updated, but I am just so glad that he is off the streets and not able to harm anybody else, and we are well on our way to getting justice for Rachel. Switching gears now to Donna Adelson. They have officially come out with her witness list for the state in her trial, and none other than Robert Adelson, her strange son, is on the witness list, and I for one, am so intrigued and ready to hear from him. I want to know all of the things. I'm really intrigued to see what all he has to say. So this trial is coming up here in a little while, and I am going to be sure to be bringing you all of the updates. It's going to be a really interesting trial. I think a lot of other things are going to probably come out a little bit as well. Of course, we did hear a lot in Charlie's trial, but I think Donna's role in this whole thing is going to be very interesting, and I think we're going to learn a lot about the dynamics of the Adelson family, even more than you learned in Charlie's trial. So I will continue to keep you guys updated on that one. Okay, last thing we're going to talk about is the Karen Reid case update. So, the defense has officially filed to dismiss two of the three charges against Karen in the death of her boyfriend John O'Keefe. Karen's lawyers have said that they have heard directly from different jurors from others on the thinking of tour Mergers that the jury would definitely have voted unanimously to find her not guilty on charges one of them, including the murder charge. The prosecution, of course, says that this is a sensational attempt on their part to get two charges dismissed and that it overall lacks merit, and they are saying that there's no way that the jury reached a unanimous decision to acquit there is no actual merit or legal foundation on which those claims are made. So basically the craziness of the Karen Ree trial continues. Honestly, I said in the past, I really don't think she's guilty. I do feel like she was being set up, and I feel like the trial kind of showed that, which is why I think it ended the way it ended. And I do think that the prosecution is going to try to carry on with continuing with the charade. So it's going to be really interesting to see what ends up happening with this, if it's going to go back to trial again, if they're going to keep on pushing this narrative that they're pushing, I don't know. I think it is just all so overwhelming and insane, and I honestly, I honestly just don't know. I don't even know what to say any more about it other than what I've said, but I will continue to keep you guys updated on all that is going on with it because it's a lot. I'm trying not to overwhelm myself with everything all at once, but I am slowly but surely getting back into my element and back in to my norm So be on the lookout for my next unsolved case, which is coming up here very shortly.
