Hey, guys, welcome to this week's bonus episode of. Right Now in True Crime. So originally I had planned to release right Now in True Crime along with a unsolved case. However, there wasn't a rest in the lover's lay murders of Cheryl Henry and Andy Atkinson, and that really needed to be its own episode, a catch up episode on all of that, because that is a huge, huge, huge, breaking news type of situation. So I released that episode in place. Of my normal episode, and I didn't want to overshadow that one with true crime updates. So we are doing a little true crime update here on its own, and then next week will be a regular episode. I didn't want to get behind on the Right Now and True Crime of it all, because we also didn't do Right Now in True Crime last week, so this is going to be right Now in Your Crime for the last two weeks. So one of the more notable things is Corey Richins was found guilty in the death of her husband Eric. She was found guilty on all five of her charges, including aggravated murder, attempt at aggravated murder, and she was also found guilty of insurance fraud. Now, interestingly enough, the jury came back in less than three hours. And let me tell you, when I saw that the jury was back already, they started deliberating. They worked a little later into the evening. When I saw that they were back, I knew that she was guilty, because that is the quickest turnaround for a verdict in a murder trial like this, Typically it goes a couple of days. This one went less than three hours. So her sentencing is going to be on May thirteenth. And because of her charge just she faces a mandatory twenty five years to life in prison sentence. So that's all going to go down on May thirteenth of this year. Okay, So we had breaking news in a case that I have covered, the murder of Ashley Oakland. It happened in twenty and eleven. Ashley was a real estate agent in Iowa West Mooine and she had gone to a home she was having an open house in April of twentyd and eleven, and she ended up getting shot and killed inside of the home and it's. Been pretty cold. There hasn't been any suspects, There hasn't been any persons of interest. So last week it was announced that they have arrested an individual for Ashley's twenty and eleven murder and it is a fifty three year old woman named Kristin Ramsey. So she has been arrested and charged with first degree murder. In Ashley's case. Ashley's family is overwhelmed with gratitude and very grateful that there has been movement in Ashley's case, and they said that they had lost all their hope in finding answers and it was really difficult for them that Ashley's case had gone cold. Now it has not been released why authorities were led to Kristin Ramsey. It is unclear what led them to arrest her or why she did this, but they did say that they. Are not expecting to make any additional. Arrests, so it appears that whatever evidence they do have against Kristin is probably pretty strong. Now. I have seen that Kristin worked for Rotland Homes in twenty eleven, which was the company that owned the town homes that Ashley was showing that day. For the open house, so that could be the potential connection between the two of them there. I guess we're going to find out more as time goes and as they start to build their case against her. But I will say. I do believe that they probably have sufficient evidence to think that this is going to hold up in a court in trial, so I'll be sure to keep you guys updated on that one. But that is yet another one of the cases I have covered that we can say is in process of getting adjudicated, and I think that is the whole reason that we cover these episodes. The whole reason we cover these more unknown, obscure cases is for outcomes like this. So I'll be sure to keep you guys updated as more starts to come out. But they have made an arrest and we are on our way to getting justice for Ashley Oakland. Okay, so there has been a little bit of new developments on the Dugger front. Now, those that aren't familiar with the Dugger f family, they are a very large family. They had a reality show on TLC called Nineteen Kids Accounting, I think that's what it was called. The number just kept growing because this couple had multiple children and Josh Dugger is probably the most notable one, not for good reasons. He is currently incarcerated serving a over twelve year sentence for receiving and possessing child sexual abuse material. He was convicted in December of twenty twenty one and he is supposed to be in prison until twenty thirty two. There was also some other members of the family that said that they were inappropriately touched and abused by Josh Dugger, So there's a whole Josh Dugger layer to the Dugger family. There's a lot of the siblings who have spoken out who have kind of gone against the family as a unit. And last week it was announced that Joseph Dugger, who is another one of the Dougger children. He's thirty one. He was arrested following accusations that he sexually assaulted a nine year old girl. On March eighteenth, police in Arkansas arrested Joseph on a warrant out of Bay County, Florida, charging the father of four with lude and lascivious behavior, molestation of a. Victim less than twelve years. Old, and lude and lascivious behavior conducted by a person eighteen years or older. The criminal investigator wrote in an affidavit that he was told Joseph had confessed to molesting a minor while speaking with the girl's father on March seventeen. So, following the arrest, the Arkansas Department of Human Services and the police department were involved in a search of Joseph's home that he shared with his wife, Kendra, and upon that search, whatever was found there led to them also arresting Kendra, who is Joseph's wife, And there are also additional charges placed on Joseph. So those additional charges include four counts of endangering the welfare of a miner and four counts of false imprisonment. So Kendra was also. Arrested and charged with those charges. Now, there was a spokesperson for the Dugger family that said that her charges are in no way related to the charges that were filed against Joseph. But those charges were also filed against him in addition to the charges for the sexual mold station of a minor. So a representative for the family is saying that Kendra's arrest was the result of a home inspection that was done at Joseph and Kendra's home and I guess their door locks that they have at the home are on the exterior of the door instead of the interior that could be where the false imprisonment comes in. So that is what this source that is close. To the family is saying. And this whole door lock thing is very interesting because according to a people dot com article, there was a report in twenty fifteen where Jimbob and Michelle Duger, who are the parents of all of these nineteen children, decided that the best way to protect their children after learning that their oldest son, Josh, had molested four of his sisters, was to basically lock the kids in their rooms each night, and that is locking them from the outside, meaning that Jim, Bob and Michelle were likely the. Only ones that had the keys to these rooms. That way, Josh couldn't get in to molest the others, which is just asinine. If you're going to live your life where you have to lock your kids inside of their rooms, that's not normal. So I don't know if this is just something that has carried on and now it is something that is happening at Joseph's house. I don't know what is going on. This family is bizarre af and I don't really know what else to say, but that is the latest. I assume there is going to probably be more coming out, and I just feel like the Dugger circus never ends, all right. Another notable thing that happened over the last week is a man accused but never convicted, of having ties to the Texas Killing Fields murders. Has passed away. Clyde Edwin Hedrick, who was seventy two years old, died over the weekend at a Houston area hospital. So the Texas Killing Fields of it. All is very involved, There is a lot to it. Clyde suspected to be involved in several of the deaths of the women and girls who were found in the Texas Killing Fields. Now. He was convicted of involuntary manslaughter of a woman named Ellen Beeson. Her body was found in nineteen eighty four. He was sentenced to twenty years in twenty eighteen, but he ended up being released on parole three years later and he was under a intense supervision program. On my Unsolved Sunday Spotlight, I recently covered the story. Of Heidi Marie Villarial Fry. She was twenty five years old and was one of the Texas Killing Fields victims. She was a cocktail waitress who was last seen on October tenth of nineteen eighty three, and on April fourth of nineteen eighty four, her remains were discovered. Clyde was actually named a suspect in Heidi's death in a documentary that was made in twenty twenty two called crime Scene the Texas Killing Fields, although he has never been charged with her murder. So, for those of you who are familiar with Texas equ Research, the founder is Tim Miller. Tim's daughter, Laura Miller, is also a alleged victim of Clyde. Clyde was found civilly liable for Laura Miller's death, but he was not criminally charged. Laura and Heidi both disappeared from the same convenience store, which was located off West Main Street and Hobbes in Lake City, Texas, so there is that connection there that is I think why a lot of people are led to believe that Clyde is responsible for Heidi's death as well as Laura's. But like I said, he was never criminally charged, so the case remains unsolved. Heidie's case remains unsolved to this day. Tim Miller said that he and the other families will never get their day in court, and they may never truly know what happened to their loved ones. They are saying that even after his death, the investigation is going to continue and hopefully there will be some form of closure for some of the living victims, the families of these victims that remain. The Hitchcock Police chief did say that investigators did speak with Hendrick before his death, but it is unknown the context of their conversation or what was said. So that's kind of where things stand now. For those of you that aren't familiar with the Texas Killing Fields. Since the nineteen seventies, thirty four bodies have been found in this specific area surrounding the Interstate I forty five, which is in southeast Houston. And like I said, there is a high probability that there are some victims that were victims in the Texas Killing Fields that are related to Clyde. He is the number one suspect in those cases, so it will be interesting to see if they're able to definitively link any of these victims to him. I can't believe that this man was ever allowed out of prison. He was apparently living in a halfway house following his release, but the fact that he was ever allowed out of jail actually makes my blood boil. I am thinking of doing a Texas Killing Fields series episode couple of episodes at some point in time, but it is a huge undertaking because we're talking about decades and decades of victims, and I want to make sure if I do cover it, that I do it right and I focus on the victims and not what happened to them, which is really hard when you're delving into the true crime of it all, because we're here to talk about that aspect of things, but we're also here to pay respect to the victims, and I always want to make sure I do my due diligence in that.
