Summer Series 2026: The List Family Murders Part 9

Welcome to Summer Series twenty twenty six, The List Family Murders. In this series, we are uncovering the story behind what happened behind the doors of the infamous Westfield, New Jersey mansion. We'll be discussing John List taking the lives of his whole family, his mother Alma, his wife Helen, his sixteen year old daughter Patty, his fifteen year old son John Frederick, and his thirteen year old son Frederick. Let's unpack it all and dive into the inner workings of a man who wanted to erase his whole life and start anew and for eighteen years he was able to do so. Let's go. Okay, guys, we are getting into episode nine of Summer Series and we are officially in Richmond, Virginia. Bob Clark is now living and working in Virginia and he is working for the accounting firm of Madera, Joyner, Kirkham and Woody. And we are now going to meet a new character in our story named Sandra Silberman, who was the receptionist and secretary at the accounting firm that Bob Clark worked at. So when Sandra first met Bob, she very much thought that he was very peculiar, so to say, and thought that he was almost ocd in his different routines and stuff that he would do. Bob would come out of his office every hour on the hour and fill up his thermos with water from the water cooler. When Sandra learned that Bob was fifty seven years old, she very much thought to herself that he looked a lot older. He was also the kind of guy that would always make sure everything in the office bathroom was fully stopped. He would always bring towels and extra toilet paper in there and became very anxious if things started to get low. And Sandra couldn't really put a finger on what it was, but there was something about Bob that was just very overall strange. But over time she did grow to like him and found him to be very thoughtful, considerate, and kind, and he was very much interested in a lot of the same things that she was interested in, like gardening, flowers and being overall healthy. They would often have discussions about what to take to avoid getting cancer or to prevent having issues with their hearts. Sandra also knew that Bob was having difficulty adjusting to his new home on the salary that he was making at the firm. She also knew that he had bought the home with the understanding that his wife would be coming and also getting a job once she joined him from Colorado, but for some reason or another that seemed to not quite work out. Two weeks after Bob had moved to Virginia to start his job, his wife, Dolores, followed behind him, but she had a really hard time deciding what kind of job she wanted. And Sandra, from the outside looking in, saw this and actually felt bad for Bob because she saw the fact that Bob was working super hard and Dolores was kind of dragging her feet, not knowing that Dolores was the one who had actually been carrying the household literally since they got married. Bob had confided in Sandra that he had wanted to wait until his wife found steady work before they went ahead and bought a home in Virginia, because he really said he wanted to sit down and figure out their budget and their finances and what they could afford. Since Bob had been in Virginia, he was living in a home with a man named Jonah Folger. He was basically renting out a room, and he had really grown to like Jonah and he very much wanted to stay there, but he knew that it wasn't going to be possible because Dolores really liked her privacy and there was no way she would want to live with a stranger. She very much insisted that they buy their own house immediately. Lais ended up taking a part time job as a cosmetologist, but then she had a car accident in which she ended up hurting her finger and she required minor surgery on her finger, and then she was forced to give up her job. But despite all that was going on, Dolores had found a home that she really loved, and that is the home that they ultimately ended up getting. Now, this second life is such a mirror to John's first life. So if you remember back when Helen and John first happened upon Westfield, it was pretty much set in stone that they were going to buy the big mansion home that they ended up buying in Westfield, which was ultimately the downfall of John's life led to him murdering his family because he couldn't afford to stay in that big house that he had purchased. And now it is the same song and dance once again. Bob and Dolores moved to Virginia, and Dolores's adamant that they by a particular house, and that is the house that they ended up getting. Bob Clark's life and John List's life are such a mirror of each other, and I will never get over the crazy coincidences and parallels between the two. So in February of nineteen eighty eight, Bob and Dolores moved into their new house. They moved to mid Lothian, Virginia, which was a suburb about fifteen miles south of Richmond. They selected a home that was seventy six thousand, five hundred dollars. For reference, that house is now three hundred and thirteen thousand dollars, so that is how much time and inflation has changed things. It was a three bedroom ranch style house in the development of Brandermel At the time, it was slate blue with a brightly painted red front door. And that house was located at one three nine one nine Sagewood Trace, And this development was pretty fancy. There were golf courses, tennis courses, swimming pools, and there was a gorgeous restaurant that overlooked the Swift Creek Reservoir. Their house was situated on the curved end of a cul de sac and was private and off of the main road, so it very much gave them the privacy that they wanted. So, of course, upon initially moving in to this area, Bob and Dolores couldn't afford to join the Brandermill Subdivision Club even if they wanted to, But they did join the Lutheran Church of Our Saviors in Chesterfield County, and once again they began to lead their very ordinary, staying out of the spotlight type of life. Bob was due at work every morning around eight thirty, and Bob would arrive every day between eight ten and eight fifteen with a brown paper bag lunch that Dolores had prepared for him. A lot of the times Bob would eat his lunch at his desk, but there were often times that he would sit in his car in the parking lot and eat his lunch while listening to his classical music on the radio, which is very reminiscent of what he did back in the day. Sandra couldn't help but often overhear conversations that Bob would have with Dolores over the phone, and Sandra always thought to herself that Bob was so good to his wife, He was so caring, he was very loving. He would bring her flowers every day, and Sandra just thought that he was really nice and very protective over her. And in their time in working together, Sandra became a very very fond of Bob and did consider him one of her very best friends. So now we are going to get back into the Wanda of it all. Wanda is coming back into our story. So Wanda had called Dolores from Colorado. Now, before Dolores officially moved to Virginia, there had been some talk that maybe Wanda's daughter and her son in law would move into Dolores and Bob's empty condo, and that way Dolores and Bob could collect rent on this empty condo because they very much needed it living where they were. But Wanda had then shared with Dolores that there was no way that they were going to be able to afford it, so unfortunately, it wasn't going to be able to happen. And then Dolores began to complain to Wanda about everything that was going on. She told her that she was out of work because she hurt her finger and she had to have surgery, and she basically had to wait for everything to heal before she could try and get another job. Wanda thought that Dolores sounded very much depressed, but Wanda also knew that Dolores was the type of person who just liked to complain a lot regardless of what was going on. But it had very much been one thing after another after another since they moved away from Colorado to Virginia and everything that all of their problems stemmed from was a lack of money. Dolores shared with Wanda that she had two thousand dollars in her savings account and that's the money that they ended up having to use to actually move to Virginia, and that money was all gone. And then Wanda went on to share with Dolores that unfortunately their condo, Bob and Dolores's empty condo had flooded because there was a swimming pool that was located above their condo and for some reason, when the apartment complex went to empty it it ended up flooding and made everything a huge mess. So Dolores is learning about their flooded condo from Wanda over the phone. She was obviously very upset about this, and also shared that they still owed about four thousand dollars in back payments on the condo, the condo that now had flood damage. Wanda then went on to ask Dolores about their new home that they had in Virginia, and Dolores shared with her that instead of renting it and they went ahead and bought it, and Wanda thought that this was really weird because Dolores was going on and on about how they didn't have any money and she was wondering how they were actually able to buy the home. And then she also shared with Wanda that they bought the house in her name, meaning Dolores's name, and Wanda thought that this was very weird and even thought to herself, why wouldn't they buy it in both of their names because they were husband and wife and this just didn't make any sense to Wanda. And again, in the back of her mind, she kind of thought there was something majorly going on and something wrong in Bob and Dolores's life. And of course, I'm sure the thoughts of Bob Clark possibly being John List were also creeping in on her because like I said, Wanda's intuition is a ten out of ten. So Bob had another coworker. He was a younger guy named Les Winfield, and he would often overhear conversation again between Bob and Dolores when Bob would call Dolores daily at lunchtime, and often when he was speaking to her, he was very kind and loving and very doting on her. But there was one a particular day that Bob was yelling and screaming at Dolores and sounded very, very angry, and Less even thought to himself that he would never want Bob to be angry at him because of the way that Bob was speaking to his wife. So that was one interaction between Bob and Dolores that was not a positive interaction. Les was also questioning how a man of Bob's age was only an entry level accountant, and he thought that there must have been something that happened in his past that caused him to have to start all over again, because a man of Bob's age should be a lot further along in his career. And Less always felt that there again was something about Bob that was almost a little scary. There was something about him that didn't sit right, but he dismissed it, of course, and just told himself that this was an older man who just happened to be an entry level accountant, and that was that. Again, Less had the intuition that there was something off about Bob, but he dismissed it as one would. You never think that there's going to be a mass murderer who just happens to come and work in your office. So interestingly enough, one of Bob Clark's favorite television programs was a show called America's Most Wanted, and in early nineteen eighty nine, the Captain of Investigators in the Union County Prosecutor's Office was very frustrated because there had been no progress made in the John List case after so many years and so many different leads that all turned up as dead ends. They were very frustrated. In April of nineteen eighty eight, the captain of investigators saw a show called America's Most Wanted that was airing on Fox TV, and it basically featured stories described as America's most notorious fugitive criminal cases, and he decided that he wanted to try and enlist the help of the program to help find John List, and initially it was turned down by one of his associates that said it was just nothing but trash TV for couch potatoes, and he got a lot of pushback for trying to get John's story put onto America's Most Wanted, but he knew that they needed to do something because nothing had been done. It had been eighteen years, and he wanted to try and help solve this case. So he went directly to his supervisor, who was a prosecutor who was named John Stamler, and John thought the idea was worth following through, so they ended up getting official clearance to send America's Most Wanted all of the information that they had on the John List case, and the producer sent a letter back saying that until they saw how good their show was doing during the airings, it was still pretty new at this point in time, that they weren't going to be able to take on such an old case such as the John List case because at this point it was fifteen years old. Six months later, in January of nineteen eighty nine, they learned that one of the executive producers of America's Most Wanted was going to be a speaker at the Eastern Regional Armed Robbery Conference that was located in Delaware, so the team ended up going there to the conference to give the List file to the producer. One on one, they sat down explained the case with the entire file of police reports, photographs, newspaper clippings all spread out across the hotel room bed. They expressed that they felt that John List was still alive and that he was living somewhere in the Midwest under an assumed name, and that he was probably remarried. He was probably working either as an insurance salesman or an accountant, and they said that they believed, with the help of America's most wanted that they would be able to apprehend him. They were also sure that he had no more indiscretions in his life and hadn't had any more police contact since the actual homicides. They believed that John was likely on his best behavior and flying under the radar. Now, one thing about it, they didn't have any recent pictures of John List. The latest picture they had of him was from nineteen seventy one. Now, this case eventually ended up coming across the desk of a woman named Margaret Robert, who was a managing editor of America's Most Wanted, and she thought that this crime was very much one of the most notorious crimes in New Jersey history, and she thought it was a perfect candidate for the program. So with this it was official. The John List story was definitely a go, and it was going to be featured on Bob Clark's favorite television program, America's Most Wanted. In the meantime of everything going on behind the scenes with America's Most Wanted, Dolores was still very much struggling with depression and struggling to figure out what they were going to do with the apartment that was back in Denver. Wanda and her talked frequently, and on Mother's Day they had a conversation where Wanda told Dolores that they had actually gotten out of there just in time, because Wanda's daughter had been assaulted at the apartment complex and basically had been left for dead. Now luckily she was able to make a recovery. But this was just another thing that made Dolores kind of second think all of the complaining that she had been doing, because Wanda obviously was going through a lot at home with her daughter and her own health issues of course, So Dolores was very much that kind of person that just liked to complain about everything, and Wanda had very much assumed that role in their friendship, where Dolores would complain and Wanda would listen. Little did Dolores know they were in the process of working everything out behind the scenes of America's Most Wanted, the episode and show that would eventually expose all of her husband's transgressions. So the lead captain of the investigators of the Union County Prosecutor's Office asked what the success rate of America's Most Wanted was. They said that they had been airing the show for fifteen months and they had profiled about one hundred and fifty fugitives and more than half of them had been caught. So about eighty of them had been caught, and even the ones that hadn't necessarily been successful, they did still have a lot of tips come in. So they were hopeful that just in airing the John List story that it would bring in a lot of tips in the List case. Now, like I said, they were working off of photos of John List that were older. They were at least eighteen years old, give or take a few years and a lot of what America most Wanted did was based on current photos of people. So one of the people that worked on the show came up with an idea of creating a bust and kind of decided to try and experiment a little bit. He turned to a man named Frank Bender, who was an artist and forensic sculptor from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and he wanted Frank to make a life size bust of the wanted man John List how he would look today. So he would use old photographs and try and depict what John List would look like eighteen years later. It was something that had never been done before, but it was something that was worth a shot. So Frank Bender at the time was a forty seven year old commercial photographer and he was a sculptor who specialized in creating busts of fugitives for authorities. His eyes were sharp and very precise with everything that he did, but still this was a lot an aged, progressed bust of John List. Wasn't really something that he thought was going to be a pivotal moment in his career, but it ended up being just that. So Frank Bender had to work with a nineteen seventy one photograph, a computerized updated image of John List, and a police description. He turned to one of his friends who was named Richard D. Walter, and he was a criminal psychologist from Michigan. Got to always love that Michigan connection when it comes to this case. Michigan is so prevalent in this case. So the reason that Frank consulted with Richard is because he knew that there would be some type of psychology involved in all of this, because he was recreating an image of a fugitive and it was believed that this individual was still alive and blending into society. This was a man who was very methodical and planned out every single thing, and they knew that he would not likely be somebody that would have altered his appearance. He wouldn't have had any plastic surgery, and he would pretty much continue his life just like before. He would probably have the same type of job, he would wear the same type of clothes, he would wear the same type of eyeglasses, and would pretty much be the same guy. They knew that John List was a worrier and would get very anxious and nervous at times, and that stress probably would have aged him quite a bit over the years. It was obvious from the photo that was supplied that John Lyst's hairline had already begun to recede when he was forty six, so they thought at this point in time the hair loss would have progressed even further, meaning that he would likely have a very high forehead. He would also have sagging jowls and kind of a downturned, saddened look. And they even thought about all of the details about what color socks that somebody like John List might wear, and they thought that he would probably wear darker socks. Now, Frank Bender created this bust having no idea the accuracy of it, but he thought that he might have done a pretty good job, and he thought that it could be pretty close to what John List looked like. And once he created this bust, he had a really hard time looking at it because he just couldn't understand how somebody who looked so gentle like John List and seemed like a mister nice guy could do what he did, especially killing his three children. So, in the midst of the bust being created, Wanda had received a letter from Dolores and things had gotten worse for Bob and Dolores. They had so many money issues, and then to top it all off, the bank ended up for closing on their apartment back in Denver. But despite all of these money issues, Bob was very much settling into his life in Virginia. He didn't ever worry about getting caught, and he would often let his guard down. He shared with his coworker Sandra that he was actually from Michigan. He even told her there was a time that when he was younger, he had Bill's palsy and he very much let some of his old life creep in. Sandra would often confide in him as well. She would share with him about some of her personal problems, especially those that involved her three grown children. She had a girl and two boys who were the exact same ages as John's children would have been if they had lived to present day. And despite this parallel, John would often offer his advice to Sandra and would often say that if you have children, you have problems. And Sandra would ask him if he ever had any kids, and he said he did not have any. Now he did talk about his first wife, and up until this point he said that his first wife had died of cancer, but he actually switched it up and told Sandra that he was actually divorced, and he even said that he had adopted his first wife's daughter, but he proceeded to say that that was a long time ago. Now. It's really interesting in this conversation with Sandra that Bob felt completely safe telling Sandra all of this information, and he even shared with her that he had once lived in New Jersey. So at this point in time, Bob had completely let his guard down and he didn't have any fear that he was ever going to be caught, and he was finally starting to let little bits and pieces of his old life come through. Now, what Bob didn't know is that he was on the brink of losing his job once again, another parallel between he and John's life. Les Wingfield, who was one of Bob's coworkers, was really frustrated at Bob's work. It was very sloppy, full of errors, and he believed that Bob had been lying about his credentials. There was even a time where Less compared Bob's handwriting to that of a mass murderer, which I think is just so interesting that Less had these feelings. Less also suspected that the bosses didn't want to get rid of Bob because they had kind of started giving him less work to do instead of just letting him go, and Bob realized also that something was wrong. Things were kind of shifting there at the office, and he began to worry about losing his job yet again. In the midst of this, Frank Bender was continuing to work on the sculpture, and he thought he achieved the right skin thickness for John List. He even added a long scar from the mastoid operation that John had that ran behind the right ear all the way down to the collar line. He made the left ear protrude a little further from the head than the right ear, and he grayed the hair and made him look like he was sixty three years old. He added horn roomed glasses. After the head was finished, he made a plaster mold and then he filled that with fiberglass, and then he began to smooth out the rough parts of the face with sandpaper and then carefully painted it to resemble a human. Frank Bender finally finished the bust and was very satisfied with it. He ended up turning it over to America's Most Wanted and they were also pleased with how it looked. They were getting ready to officially record the program. The script had been written and researched, and they began their preparations to air of the story the America's Most Wanted episode. It had taken about five months from the first concept to the actual airing of the episode. That includes the creation of this bust. Now, I did get the opportunity to see the actual bust at a museum located in Pigeonforge, Tennessee. I'm going to be posting a picture of that to my Instagram and Facebook pages, so please be sure to go give it a look, because I Am not even kidding you when I say this bust is an exact replica of what John Lists looked like when he was apprehended. And the fact that Frank Bender was able to do that with just an old photograph of John List is truly incredible. On Sunday night, May twenty first of nineteen eighty nine, America's Most Wanted air and it shared the story of John List, the Sunday school teacher who murdered his whole family and fled. Over three hundred people called in that Sunday night after the reenactment of the five murders. Two hundred of the calls were received were enough to warrant an investigation. One caller was an anonymous viewer from the Richmond, Virginia area, who said that the bust looked very similar to an accountant that lived in mid Lothian, Virginia. Now interestingly enough, like I said, America's Most Wanted was one of Bob Clark's favorite TV show programs. He would watch it every Sunday night like clockwork. He even told the neighbors to watch it, and sometimes Bob and Dolores would get together with their next door neighbors in Virginia and watch this program together. But for whatever reason, on this particular night, Bob and Dolores had gone to a church social and they missed the airing of the show that featured the killings. Bob obviously had no idea that the story of his previous life had been aired on one hundred and twenty nine different Fox Network stations that went into the home of twenty two million people. One of those homes was that of Wanda Flannery, her daughter Eva, and her son in law Randy sat in their little living room facing the TV watching the man on TV talk about John List, and Wanda immediately knew and remembered that that was the same guy from the tabloid newspaper, the one who killed his whole family, and she said that that's the same guy that looks like Bob Clark. As the story progressed and proceeded, Wanda thought everything sounded just like Bob. But then again, in the back of her mind, she thought, there's no way that that could be possible, but everything really seemed to line up. But then they brought out the bust that Frank Bender had created of an age progressed John List, and as that image on the screen, Wanda immediately knew that that was Bob. They then showed photos of John List how he appeared in nineteen seventy and nineteen seventy one, and they said that they have believed that he has aged quite a bit and that he would be sixty four years old this September. Wanda continued watching the program. Of course, in the middle of everything, she was questioning everything that she was seeing, even though in her heart and soul she knew that this had to be the same person. Wanda went back and forth on if she should still call. She very much questioned everything in the moment, but her son in law, Randy, eventually went over and called the number that had been given at the end of America's Most Wanted and he said that he believes that they know the guy, and he asked if there was any type of reward being offered, and they did say that there was no type of reward being offered at this point in time. So he instantly hung up the phone and explained to his family that he thought it would dumb to stick his neck out accuse somebody of being a mass murderer if there was no type of reward in this situation, because I even think at this point in time, Randy wasn't entirely sure that this was actually John List, that Bob Clark was John List. Wanda was very sure, but Randy wasn't. Wanda insisted that Randy called back, and he did reluctantly call the hotline number on the TV again, and he gave them the telephone number an address of Bob and Dolores Clark out of mid Lothian, Virginia, And from that moment, Wanda Flannery and her family got thrust into the spotlight and everybody wanted to know about her relationship with Bob and Dolores Clark. Just ten days later, it was approximately ten o'clock in the morning of Thursday, June first, of nineteen eighty nine, a man named Kevin August headed the team of four FBI agents from the Richmond office of the FBI. They were following up on one of the tips that they had gotten from America's Most Wanted. So the group of the four agents went to one three nine one nine Sagewood Trace, the home of Bob and Dolores Clark, and they were greeted at the door by Dolores. Kevin introduced himself and showed his badge and said that they were from the FBI, and they went on to say that they were looking for a mister Robert Clark. Now, Dolores proceeded to respond that that was her husband and he was at work, and she asked if anything was wrong. Kevin August broke the news to her that they were looking for a man who had murdered his family in New Jersey. And of course, at this point in time, Dolores immediately thought back to the magazine that Wanda had showed her before they left Colorado. She invited them inside and proceeded to tell them that there was no way that there is a connection between Bob and the man that did that to his family. She showed them their wedding foot and Bob was always the same person that he was when she first met him. He never changed. She told them that the photo was taken in nineteen eighty five, in November when they got married. But when Kevin August saw this photo, he thought in his mind that this had to be John List, because they very much believed that wherever John List was, he was blending into regular life and had moved on had remarried, so they were certain that they had found their man. Kevin then pulled out the FBI flyer with the nineteen seventy one John List photos on it and the police description, and he showed that to Dolores. That was the moment that Dolores began to tremble. She looked at the flyer and was questioning everything about her life and how this could have happened, and with that she admitted that it very well could be him. Now, the FBI Asians did feel bad because Dolores was very very upset about this, and they did tell her that what they were doing was only inquiring about it because they had to, and that sometimes there are false leads that lead to misidentifications and sometimes it's a mistake. Now, Dolores very much was trying to be helpful and cooperative with them in their efforts, and they went on to ask where he worked, and she told them exactly where he worked at, and she said she was going to go ahead and call him and tell him that they were going to be on their way. Now, Kevin asked her, please do not call him, and they actually had an agent stay behind with Dolores to make sure that she was not going to call her husband, because they didn't want him to get tipped off that they were actually on their way. So Kevin and his other partners went to the office to find the man that they were convinced was John Lust. It was around eleven ten in the morning and the only people in the office that day were Sandra the Sacond secretary, Less Wingman, and Bob Clark. Now Less heard the door open, but he didn't really pay any attention as to who walked in, And in walked three men who identified themselves as being from the FBI. Sandra identified herself as the secretary and asked if she could help them. They proceeded to ask if Robert Clark worked there, and Sandra said, yes, let me get him for you. And Sandra immediately thought that maybe Bob had committed some type of white collar crime because he did have financial troubles that she was aware of. They proceeded to ask Sandra where he was, and she knew that he was in the back running some copies, so she said that she would go and get him for them. They stopped her immediately and asked if there was a back exit because they knew that if Bob Clark knew that they were there for him, that he would try and flee. Now Less very much knew something was going on, and he was kind of standing in his office just listening to kind of see what was going on. Something told him not to go outside of his office, but he very much wanted to know what was going on. He didn't know if it had something to do with him possibly, or it could have had something to do with Bob. Sandra continued to try and ask the FBI agents what was going on, but she knew that Bob would be on his way back from the copier, and she actually heard him approaching, and she set out loud to them, there he is, that's him. He's on his way. The three agents separated and spread out in a small reception room and they moved Sandra out of the way because they wanted to make a beeline for Bob. Bob came in and immediately saw the men. He looked at them, and then he held out a piece of paper that he had been holding to give to Sandra. They approached him and asked if he was John List, and he responded, no, I'm not. They ended up grabbing him, turning him towards the wall dividing the reception area from the rest of the offices, and Sandra was shocked by what was going on, but Bob didn't really seem very surprised. He didn't say a word. He just kind of looked defeated as his arms were clamped behind his back with a fresh set of handcuffs on his wrists. Les was still in his office trying to listen to what was going on, but he did hear the click of the handcuffs and knew that it was safe for him to come out of his office. He saw that they had Bob up against the wall pretty much right outside of his office, with his handscuffed behind him. They went on to ask Bob Clark if he had a mastoid scar, and Bob replied yes, And then they asked if he had a hernia operation. Bob replied yes, and that was pretty much all he said. So these scars, these two scars, the hernia and the mastoid scar, lined up to John list. They went ahead and scoured the office. They went in and checked Bob's office. They didn't want to leave anything behind. Les popped out and asked what he did, and they responded that he murdered five people. Less quickly realized that they were looking for copies of Bob's handwriting, possibly his resume, anything that could help tie him to John List. Lesson Standra just stood there totally shocked. Reading the FBI bulletin from nineteen seventy one. Sandra especially was so surprised and thought that there was no way that Bob was the man who had killed his family in New Jersey. Less was surprised Bob was not defending himself or asking any questions. He was just standing there in handcuffs and just like that, he was taken away in the back of the cop car. The officers noticed that he had a single tear running down his cheek, meaning in their mind that they knew that they had in fact gotten the right guy, because an innocent man doesn't usually cry, and an innocent man would usually ask what the charges were, and Bob Clark never asked what the charges were. When he was in the back of the cop car, he was doubling down and said, my name is Robert Clark. The agents told him that they would put it to the test and do his fingerprints, and that it wouldn't take long. Bob was doubling down and said that he knew who he was. He was Bob Clark. Upon Bob leaving the office with the police officers, Sandra and Les were left behind in the office just discussing what had just happened. Less than half an hour later, the phone rang and it was Kevin August from the FBI, and he was calling to inform Lesson Sandra that it was in fact John List. The fingerprints were in fact a match. They were able to get his former fingerprints from the army and match them up to Bob Clark's fingerprints and it was an official match. So that is where we are going to leave Episode nine. Episode ten is going to be our last one in the Summer Series of twenty twenty six. We are going to talk about all of the aftermath after Bob aka John List was arrested, and we are going to wrap this series up. I can't believe we finally got to the point where he has been apprehended and we are officially wrapping up this series.
