Tionda & Diamond Bradley: Part 1

We are going to jump right into right now in True Crime because the episode today is a wild freaking ride. I'm just giving you a heads up. It's going to be a wild ride and it's a two parter. So right now in True Crime, let's talk Chad day Bell. So, there had been some debate back and forth between them, Chad's team and Judge Boyce to maybe move the trial to Fremont County instead of Ada County, and they have decided that it's going to be in Ada County. It's not going to move to Fremont County because he basically said he wanted it moved to Fremont County because he wants his kids and his family to be able to go there, which I don't know. Chad Dabil is a delusional human. He has to be delusional. He actually wants his kids to sit through this horrific, horrific trial of what he did to someone else's children at their property at his home. Like I don't understand. He literally thinks that he did nothing wrong. This guy the delusion, Like, I just can't I cannot even fathom why he wants to put his kids through that. I do think one hundred and ten percent that him and his team are going to throw Lori Valo Dabill under the bus. And that's going to be their driving force is that she was the one who manipulated and planned and did all of this stuff and Chad merely just carried out her wishes. They are a million percent going to throw her under the bus. And I am here for it because in her trial she wouldn't allow that. She wouldn't allow them to throw Chad or Alex under the bus even though they were her co conspirators. It's going to be so interesting, and I don't know what I'm gonna do. Come April first, find me non stop watching the Chad Dable trial because it's going to be televised. It's going to be not televised, but it's going to be live streamed. So yeah, it's going to be murdaw two point zero all over again for Kylie. Also, a third person has been arrested in the Crystal Rogers case. She disappeared in twenty fifteen out of Kentucky. I have talked about her in the past. Her ex boyfriend name Brooks how was arrested and there is also rumors that his brother is somehow involved as well, allegedly, and they have a rested a guy named Stephen Lawson. He has been indicted on two charges which are a conspiracy to commit murder and tampering with physical evidence. So let me kind of run down a little bit of this. There are two boys, two boys, two guys who have been arrested and then also Brookes, so three people in total. Steven Lawson and Joseph Lawson are both facing the same charges. So who are they? So? Stephen was mentioned in one of the very first police interviews between Nelson County Detective John Snow and the main suspect in the disappearance of Crystal, who is Brooks. The interrogation had taken place inside the Nelson County Sheriff's Department, and the detective had asked who was on the other end of the line during a late night phone call on the night that Rogers disappeared. So John Snow, Detective John Stowe says, who's Steve Lawson? And Brooks, says, Steve Lawson works for me. So Brooks told the detective he couldn't remember why Steven had called him so late, and then he picked up his phone and called him from inside the interrogation room, and he asked him, the other night, you called me really really late. I can't remember what you were calling me about. And Steve Lawson. Steven Lawson had said that he had called him with a question about rental properties, and Brooks had replied that he had asked Crystal and would call her to ask him and would end up calling him back. Detective john snow had to think about that answer and followed up with another question regarding an earlier straight statement that Brooks had made. And Brooks had earlier made a statement that basically Crystal was in the truck with him when he received that phone call. So if she was in the truck with you, why would you need a caller to ask about the rental property stuff? Contradicting himself left and right and center. That is why he is in prison, and Steven Lawson and the other Lawson are now in prison as well. So there are three upcoming court dates in this case. Steve Lawson is expected in court on December twenty first. Joseph Lawson's next court date is January the fifth, and Brooks is scheduled to be in court on February the eighth. And all of this still we do not have any definitive information on what happened to Crystal. Obviously, they have enough evidence to believe that she was murdered by these horrible, horrible humans aka Brooks and the other people that potentially helped him cover it up and get away with it, And I think his brother being arrested is only a matter of time. If you don't remember, Crystal's father, Tommy Ballard, was also accidentally quote unquote killed in a hunting accident, and the gun that was used to kill him had ties to Brooks's brother. This is all looking really really bad for that family. So we'll definitely keep you guys updated on that one. I know that was a little longer than my typical quick little update, but I wanted to give you some background information because there is so many twists and turns, and Brooks thinks he's a very intelligent person and is able to keep up with his lies, but his lies are literally unraveling in front of his eyes. This happened in twenty fifteen, and they have gotten away with it for a long time. But they're not getting away with it anymore. It is all starting to crumble. The pyramid is crumbling, all right, guys, I think that is it for right now in True Crime. We are going to go ahead and get started in with episode because, like I said, this story is a lot. It's two parts for a reason, so I hope you guys enjoy it alrighty, guys. Heading into a new case today that was brought to me by my friend Beth. I think that I am the person that knows everything about all of the cases, and I know all the cases and have input into everything about every single case, but that is simply not true. My brain can only hold so much information. So when she asked me about this case, I was like, I don't know this one, and I put it quickly into the notes section of my phone and I have gone down the biggest rabbit hole in regards to this case. This is going to be a two parter. There's no way for me to do this story and not make it a two parter because it spans over twenty two years and there is a lot. Just when you think it's over, there's like a new twist and a new turn. Today we are going to be talking about the two thousand and one disappearance of two sisters, Tianda and Diamond Bradley out of Chicago. Tianda was ten and Diamond was three when this happened. So I will say there is a show on ID that is called Disappeared the Bradley Sisters. I watched that for my research. There is a lot of information in it. And there is also a podcast that is done by two of the lead detectives on the case, and it is also called Disappeared the Bradley Sisters. It is eight parts. They go very much in depth into everything that happened, all of the different things that have happened over the years, and they are really really good at what they do. When I was watching it listening to both of the detectives, they are both very good, very passionate, and they know their stuff. They know this case like the back of their hand, and I have no doubt that they probably are going to solve this. It's going to happen soon. So we are going to start the only place I know where to start, because this case is very wild and very crazy, and there's never a dull moment in all of the things that happen in this case. So I'm going to start at the only place I know where to start, which is at the beginning. So Tracy Bradley was the mother of four girls. She had a daughter, Rita, a daughter Victoria, She had Tianda, and she had Diamond. At the time of Diamond and Tianda's disappearance in two thousand and one, Rita was twelve and Victoria was eight. Tianda was ten and Diamond was three. Okay, So setting the scene. They lived in Chicago. They lived in an apartment. It was the Lake Grove Village apartment complex in Chicago. Tracy was a single mom, but she was dating a man named George Washington. And yes, we're gonna call him George Washing. Every single time I mention him, he is going to be called George Washington. So Tianda, she was ten years old. She was very outspoken. She was kind of like a little mini adult. She liked to cook. She had a very very big personality, and Diamond was more shy, more reserved. She was three, so she was little, and she always had her hair done. She always had like the braids and the cute little barettes and her hair, and she was just the cutest little girl ever. I will post pictures on my Instagram carousel and you can see for yourself. They were both super super adorable little girls. So we are going to backtrack a little bit to the fourth of July of twenty twenty one in Chicago. They all got together, the whole family, all four girls, the mom, aunts, uncles, grandparents, all the people all got together and they had a barbecue in Washington Park. It was a nice, normal day. They celebrated the fourth of July together and nothing seemed out of the ordinary. Fast forward two days later, on July sixth, and both of the girls were missing from the Chicago apartment where they had been living with their mother and their sisters. So let's set the scene for the day now. Remember it was two thousand and one. Things were a little bit different than they are now. So for whatever reason, Rita and Victoria were staying with another family member, and there were often times that they would all stay at family members' homes together, but there was also times that they were kind of split apart and two would be here or three would be here. And one would be home. Not really a rhyme or reason for it, just the way that things kind of worked out, I guess. So this particular day, Dime in Teanda were home with her mother and the other two girls were elsewhere with other family members. So Tracy had to leave for work and she basically got up that morning. She had to be at work by seven, so she got up early that morning and told both girls that she was going to be going to work. They were going to be staying alone, and she said, don't answer the door for anybody, and I'll be home, you know, whatever time she was expected to be home. George Washington picked her up and drove her to work. Throughout the day, Tracy would try to call the girls to see make sure that they were okay, of course, and would not get an answer, so she would just keep trying. Still wouldn't get an answer. I guess really didn't think a ton of it. Had also called her mom and said, hey, I'm not able to get a hold of the girls. Can you try? Her mom try, with no success. So George Washington came and picked her up and brought her back home, and when she got back home, the door was open. And there was a note that was on the back of the couch from Tianda that said that they were going to go to the store and to the school, to the park and that they would be back, and the girls were gone. So right away Tracy was very concerned, worried about her girls, but also in the back of her mind, I think she realized I left them alone, and she thought that she could potentially get in trouble for leaving them alone. And other members of her family were urging her not to call the police right away and to just go look for the girls, because if they thought that Tracy put her two daughters in danger, that there was a risk that they would take away Rita and Victoria. So Tracy went, the family went, and they were searching for Diamond and Tianda. They went all around the area asking people if they had seen these two girls. They came up with no leads. So a full eight hours after the discovery that the girls were missing is when they initially first called the police. So police had come and you know, they did their investigation. They saw no signs of forced entry into the apartment. They felt that the girls had been taken by somebody that they knew and it had to be somebody that knew that the girls were by themselves that day that either maybe Tracy had said the girls are by themselves, or someone else that was close to the family that knew that they were alone and would be easily accessible. But at this point, the only people that really knew that Diamond and Tianda were alone in the apartment were Tracy and at George Washington. So I do want to backtrack a little bit because this is a really important little tidbit of information. In the days leading up to the disappearance, Tracy and George Washington had planned on taking the girls camping. Now again, it's really odd and it doesn't really make sense, but they were going to be taking Rita and Vicki camping one weekend and then the other two girls camping the following day. On the seventh, when Tracy got back from work, so it was brought up by George Washington, we should go camping, and Tracy said she had gone out and bought like a tent at the store so they could go camping. Which is interesting that they would take the girls separately camping when you could take them all four together. It's just weird. It doesn't make sense, but times are tough. They had to do what they had to do. Four kids is hard understandable, especially as a single parent, so I could kind of understand the reasoning for that, but it just seemed kind of odd in such a way that they were going to be splitting up two kids here, two kids there. Also really important to note Tracy had been dating George Washington since about nineteen ninety five nineteen ninety six. Again, this is taking place in two thousand and one, and Rita and Victoria say that George was not close to the girls at all. He never really came around them. They didn't go out to dinner with him, they weren't like that. They weren't involved with him in any way, shape or form. At least that's what Rita and Victoria say. Even though they were young at the time of their sister's disappearance, they remember a lot about what was happening around this time, and I find their stories to be extremely truthful and accurate, and they're going to portray things the way that they felt that they were, and they did not feel that they had a relationship at all with George Washington. So of course initially Tracy is going through all the emotions. Her girls are gone, she doesn't know where they're at, she left them alone. She probably feels an enormous amount of guilt, and she was very distraught. She would get really upset with investigators, and she would also get very defensive because she felt like they were almost trying to blame it on her that her girls were gone or insinuate that she had done something to harm her children. And that's got to be a really, really hard situation to be in, especially knowing that you left your kids alone and something happened to them. The amount of guilt you feel already just from that in itself because they were young. They were ten and they were three. That's pretty young, and Rita and Victoria said they would be left alone sometimes, but at the time, Rita was twelve and she was kind of old enough to look after her younger sister, whereas a ten year old, it's still kind of in that stage where even though Tianda was pretty mature and like a little adult, she was still ten years old. So I'm sure Tracy went through every single emotion in the book thinking that they were going to blame her for her children being gone. Or even try to pin their disappearance on her, meaning that she was involved in some way, shape or form. So a definite range of emotions from Tracy, for sure, and understandably so. So. Tracy did say that initially the investigation, everybody is out looking for the girls. There is a huge search in Chicago, the biggest one to date. When that happened was being conducted, Tracy was out looking for the girls and George Washington was basically just along for the ride. He wasn't physically trying to help find the girls. Tracy said that she would get out of the car and like go search in areas, and George Washington would just sit in the car and really not be very helpful in trying to locate Diamond and Tianda. So the two detectives who were the key players in this case are a detective named Pamela Child's. She has now retired, but at the time of the Bradley sisters disappearance, she was pretty much brand new to the job and she gave twenty nine years to the Chicago Police Department. There was also a guy named Ed Carol, and he had been assigned the Bradley case when he was in the Cold Case department and did some digging and has been one of the integral players in helping keep this case alive along with Pamela. Pamela is a rock star. So is Ed. They're both great. But the way that Pamela carries herself and conducts herself when speaking with the family members in the ID show that I watched, she is just such a professional and she just has a way of conducting herself to really empathize with what the family is going through, and she is amazing. She is definitely like my new hero. So with everything that was going on at the time, Pamela decided that she was going to try to retrace the steps that the girls would have had to have taken if they were going to the store or going to the school from the apartment. So you're talking about a three year old. It's a little little child. To go from point A to point B would be difficult, especially if they were alone. So Pamela tried to figure out what store they could have potentially been stating that they were going to go to. Now, there was a store nearby. It was a jewel grocery store, and although it hasn't been confirmed that that was the store that Tianda met when she said, we're going to go to the store. That was a store that was close by. So it was a few blocks away from where the apartment complex was, which wasn't really a super long walk for an adult, but it would have been a long walk for two children, especially if they were alone. So they also did a re route of the girls going to the nearby school playground, which was James R. Doolittle School, where Tianda was a student and she actually, at the time of her disappearance was enrolled in summer school there. She had like some learning disabilities with reading, maybe some dyslexia. That's just me thinking it was dyslexia the way that her family was talking about it, and she was enrolled in summer school. She was supposed to go to school that day, the day that she went missing on July sixth, and she obviously did not end up going to school that day. And again, it was close by the apartment complex, but really really far for two little girls, especially if they were alone. So the route and all that they had to take, it really just didn't make sense that they were going to embark on that alone, especially since Tracy had always told them don't open the door for anyone. There should be no reason that they would need to leave. And again with the note that was found, there was speculation that that was in Tianda that wrote it, and it wasn't the grammar that Tianda used. Again, she had a little bit of a learning disability when it came to writing and things didn't always match up with the way things were spelled, so they weren't really sure if Tianda willingly wrote the note or if she wrote the note at all. So it was sent to a handwriting analysis and a lot of people were just unsure if she wrote it at all. And Rita and Victoria said, like, there was never a reason for us to write a note for our mom because we would call her on the phone. We all knew our phone number and if we ever needed her for anything, we would call her. So the whole note thing just seemed really suspicious to everyone in the family. So that is sent off for hanray analysis. And we are now on July seventh, so this is the day after the girls have gone missing. The police have been contacted. So Tracy's sister was at the apartment kind of everyone is around, and she had recently helped set up the family cell phones. Cell phones were pretty much brand newish in two thousand and one, and she had helped set up all the cell phones for the family and was like kind of just messing around and found a voicemail on Tracy's phone from Tianda And the time on the voicemail was either eight two am or eight twenty am. And this was from the day that the girls disappeared. And the voicemail said, Mommy, I'm going to the store with George, And there was also another part of the message that said George is at the door. I'm going to the store to pick up a cake for Victoria. And important to note that Victoria's birthday, who is Tianda and Diamond's sister, Her birthday was July seventh, meaning the next day, and also the day that they were going to be gone camping. So again, why are you going to be buying a cake if you're going to be going camping. It all doesn't make sense. So this voicemail apparently quote got into the wrong hands and ended up being deleted. So besides the family's knowledge of this voicemail, nobody in law enforcement has ever been able to get a hold of this voicemail. Has ever heard of this voicemail. There are several members of the family who have claimed to have heard the voicemail. And this is where it gets really weird, because I do want to believe that everybody in this family is going to do everything in their power to do what's right and forward any information they have to law enforcement. But the aunt of Tracy said that she had the voicemail and recorded it on a device, emailed it to herself, and has it on her email. Both the detectives wanted her to turn that over to them, but she said in order she had like some encryption on her email to protect it, and in order to do that, she would have to put like a certain past code in and if she got the past code wrong, then she would be locked out and it would be lost forever. Basically pretty much not wanting to willingly put the voicemail material out there, not willing to really release it. Even Ed was willing, he said, I communicated with her. I wanted her to turn it over to me. I was willing to take myself, bring myself and a IT person to her to try to extract the file, and she was not willing. I don't really know what that means. I don't feel like she is being malicious, but I feel like they need to get their hands on this voicemail. I feel like it is very, very important to this case, and the fact that it was deleted by God knows who at God knows what time just really is suspicious and it's just not a good look for George Washington. Now, there was another George that is involved in the Bradley's family kind of sorta. He was a neighbor. He is named George Signor, and he had a nickname. The girls all called him Porchy, and they never called him George. So Rita and Vicki said, if Porchi had come to their house, the voicemail wouldn't have said George, it would have said Porchy. So there's no doubt in anyone's mind that if this voicemail is valid and it really happened, Tianda was talking about George Washington and not about neighbor George Signor, which makes sense because if you have a nickname that you go by, especially with kids, that's what you're gonna call them. You're not going to call them by their real name. I have, you know, old time family friends that I grew up with, and they had nicknames, and I still to this day want to call them by their nicknames. I don't want to call them by their real names. So, especially with kids, it's something that will stick, is a nickname. So there's no doubt in my mind that the George and the voicemail is George Washington. So George's involvement in all this, George Washington's involvement in all this. He's said that the morning that the girls disappeared, George had gone to Tracy's apartment to pick her up, But he said, there's no way that I went there again without Tracy. And he's unsure why the girls would have left a voicemail saying that he was there when he wasn't. Now's the time for me to tell you that George Washington was married. This is gonna get really wild, guys. This is like an episode of Maury Povich. So George Washington was married. He was in a relationship with Tracy for a minute. It was between nineteen ninety five and nineteen ninety six that they got together, and there was some question Tracy thought that George Washington was potentially Diamond's father. Diamond was three at the time of her disappearance, so just a few weeks before Diamond disappeared, she had asked him to take a paternity test, and at the time of Diamond's disappearance, the paternity had not returned yet. Now again, it's weird because I don't even know. This is going to be a weird, weird thing. George Washington's wife, who he was married to at the time of the conception of Diamond, was named Diamond, and I think Tracy knew it and named the daughter Diamond. I don't know for some reason or another. We'll never really know, but George Washington was married to a woman named Diamond, had an affair with Tracy, who got pregnant and named her daughter Diamond. I am not making this up. This is a real thing. George Washington did not want to claim Diamond as his child, and always he was just not a good person, George Washington allegedly and would manipulate Tracey and always say if you try to leave me, I'm going to kill you, and he would always threaten the family. George Washington is just not a good person, allegedly, and he was making moves that do not make George Washington look good at all. So they did some search to George Washington's house and his car, and they had found for seats in both his house and his car from the day after the girls went missing, and on the receipt was a large package of trash bags and two pairs of gloves. Obviously, this does not look good for George Washington. They went to his house and searched, and they found that five of the trash bags were missing from the roll and one pair of gloves were completely gone. He said that he used all of that in a home renovation project and that he had disposed of it in a certain area. He actually took the cops to the area where he disposed of it so he could prove that that's where they were and that's what they were used for. But by the time the police officers got there, that stuff had already been taken and hauled away. There had been neighbors that said that George Washington was burning something in big industrial barrels in his backyard, and after that he had taken and thrown the barrels after they had cooled off, into the trunk of his car, and George Washington denied this, said that he had never owned a barrel, and there was evidence of charring at his house and remnants of a outline of a barrel in his trunk. I mean, guys, circumstantial evidence can't convict and it can't always get an arrest. But you guys are all pretty smart humans. We can read between the line. It ain't looking too good for George Washington. And we're going to come back to that because there is some evidence that is taken from the trunk of George Washington's car that is not again accessed until twenty ten, So we're going to come back to that probably in part two. So George Washington basically said, I don't know who did anything. I just know that I had nothing to do with it. They did administer a polygraph test to George Washington and he did pass in his defense, So nothing ever really came to light that was enough to charge George Washington. Again, it's all hearsay, it's all circumstantial. There's nothing concrete linking George Washington to the disappearance of Diamond and Tianda, and same with Tracy. Honestly, Tracy to me, I don't get like super lying manipula vibes from her. I think she is being sincere as to what she remembers from that time her life. I don't think that she had a good choice in men, but that doesn't mean that she is involved in the disappearance of her children. So it's a lot. It's a lot to unpack, and it's kind of a lot to take in and try to figure out. But there was no concrete evidence that could make them bring charges against Tracy or against George Washington at this point. So Tracy eventually shut down her communications with Chicago Police Department because she very much felt like she was being targeted, and she said that she felt like everyone was just after her and there was a target on her back. There was one time that she was pulled over and handcuffed for no reason at all and brought to the police station, and one of the officers there was like, you need to unhandcuff her right now and do anything wrong. She was literally just being targeted because she was the mother of two missing girls, which is really sad. I again don't feel like Tracy super meant for anything like this to happen to her children. I do not think she was directly involved. I think she's doing her best and trying to recall what happened around that time in her life, and I don't think she deserved to be targeted. And because of all of that, she basically just shut down and became a shell of herself because not only were her daughters gone, but she was being blamed for them being missing, and also being blamed like potentially for having something to do with their disappearance. That's got to be so traumatizing for her, I can't imagine. So it did come back that George Washington was indeed the father of Diamond Bradley, and basically Tracy was after him, if this is your child, you're going to have to pay child support and help me raise her and support her, and George Washington wanted no part of that, which tells us all that we need to know about the kind of person George Washington was. They also did confirm that the note that was written was Tianda's handwriting. She did write it, but they do think that whoever took Tianda and Diamond forced Tianda to write the note, because it's not something that she ever would have done on her own. So there is a private investigator name Detective Foster who joins the case, and he is kind of bridging the gap between law enforcement and the family to communicate because at this point a lot of the family had stopped communicating with law enforcement because they felt like they were being wrongfully accused of being involved in Diamond and Tianda's disappear. Understandable, it's always good to kind of have a middleman. And as much as the evidence kind of kind of sort of did point at George Washington, you very much have to beat the burden of proof for the charges to be brought up. And it's understandable. You don't want to create a case against somebody and have it completely fall apart because you don't have enough evidence. So just two months after Diamond and Tianda disappear, the September eleventh attacks happen in New York City and the world is basically turned upside down. All of the resources from all of the big cities are being sent to New York to help with all of the different things that are going on, the terror attacks and security. The world changed in September of two thousand and one, and with that happening, it very much took the attention away from the disappearances of Diamond and Tianda, so things just kind of went a little dormant for a while. Now, I will say that in two thousand and three, Tracy had another child with George Washington, and this was a boy and he was named George Junior. And George Washington, being such a stand up guy, decided that he was going to take Tracy to court and sue her for custody of George Junior, and ultimately ended up George Washington getting custody of George Junior and Tracy losing custody of her son. I don't really know the circumstances and why, because I know Tracy in the interview said that she did fight to keep her son and be able to care for him, but George Washington took him away. And I think it's really shitty because George Washington, you didn't want to have anything to do with the daughter that you fathered and didn't really help at all to find that child that was your child, that was your daughter, and then you later have a son, and then you take that child away from his mother when you wanted nothing to do with your first child. I don't understand what is going on in your mind. I think George Washington is playing mind games. I do not like it. I do not get good vibes from George Washington whatsoever. And I just think it's really shitty to do that to someone, especially somebody that's already been through so much. Tracy had already been through so much, and you put her through something else by taking her child away from her. Again, I'm not defending Tracy. She has a horrible taste in men as far as George Washington goes. But she didn't deserve to have her child taken away from her, especially in the midst of grieving the loss of two of her other children that were just taken away with no explanation. It's really sad. It makes it makes my heart sad for her. And I just don't know. So we're going to fast forward to May of two thousand and five. They don't have a whole lot of new information to go on, but there are some new leads that are popping in. And this happened in the South side of Chicago, where some construction workers discovered some bones and immediately the thought that those could belong to Tianda and Diamond. They analyzed the bones and they were found to be that of a teenage girl, which at that point the family knew that they were not going to be those of Diamond because of the size of the bones, but they thought that they potentially could belong to Tianda. But they did a DNA analysis also that everything, and it was determined that they did not belong to Tianda. So again, it's kind of one of those things where you are relieved that it's not them, but then you're still out wondering, well, where are they? Where are Tianda and Diamond. So that is a really good stopping point for part one of this episode. We have a lot more to go twists and turns and twists and turns coming in this story. We're going to pick back up in twenty ten for episode number two, and yeah, we have quite a bit more to go over and yeah, like I said, this one is a truly wild ride. And we are gonna pick up with part two again in twenty ten with some new things that had come out, and yeah, it's gonna get interesting. I really don't know where I stand on any of this given all the information that I'm going to be sharing next week, but I thank you guys so much for listening.
