I'm your host, Kylie. Let's talk right now in true crime, and then together we are going to work on warming up some cold cases. Let's go Hey, guys, welcome back to another episode of Primetime Crime. It's Kylie. We are going to go ahead and dive in to right now in true crime. We don't have a lot to talk about, but there are some things that I want to cover, so we are going to go ahead and get started. So this past week, Ethan Crumley's father, James Crumbley, was found guilty on all counts of involuntary manslaughter. I had said earlier about Jennifer crumb Ethan's mom also being found guilty, which I was kind of surprised about honestly that it ended up evolving in that way, because I was pretty sure that it was going to be a hung jury. And they weren't going to be able to all agree on it. But the fact that James was found guilty as well, I'm not really surprised since Jennifer was also found guilty. And it basically came down to the way that the gun that Ethan ended up using in this school shooting was stored because it was easily accessible for Ethan to get this gun because of the way that it was stored. James said that the gun was stored in his bedroom armoire, it was unloaded in a case, and that the bullets were stored in a separate drawer under some jeens and like, rule number one of gun storage, especially if you have children in your home, is that you need to have it locked at all locked up at all times. So that's what it came down to, and it's really interesting that this is kind of the path that we're now going on. We're starting to hold the parents accountable for letting their kids have access to these guns. So I definitely feel like this is the first of many to come in regards to younger individuals getting access to guns and weapons and the repercussions that are going to be put in place for those that allow them. To have access to these things. It's really a very interesting thing to kind of see play out next. The judge in the Richard Allen case has said that there's going to be no media recordings in regards to the trial, and that there will be nothing released and no electronics are going to be allowed, no life tweeting. There's not going to be anything allowed in the courtroom, no cameras. So honestly, I kind of understand it's a very very sensitive topic because it's the brutal murder of two little girls and it did go unsolved for so long. I think there's a lot of moving parts in the whole Richard Allen thing, Like there's a lot of moving parts how they came to arrest him as a suspect, and all the other stuff that's gone on since he's been arrested. I think it's gonna be a really interesting trial and obviously, like after the fact, things are gonna come out. We're gonna know, obviously what the verdict is, like, we're gonna hear some of the details. I think, even though there's not going to be any live tweeting or recording, do they even call it tweeting anymore? Because isn't it X Now, I don't know what they call it, but there's gonna be no live action coming out of the courtroom, So I think that it's gonna be really interesting after the fact to kind of hear everything that happened, if we even hear anything that happened. But regardless, it is going to be definitely interesting to see what the outcome is going to be. And I will be sure to keep you guys updated. That starts in May, so I'm really anxious for it to start. Okay, switching gears, We're going to talk about Riley Strain. He is the Missouri college student who is missing in Nashville as of a week and a couple of days ago. As of right now I'm recording this Sunday morning, he has not yet been found. They have been doing continuous searches trying to find him and have come up empty handed. There is some things I wanted to clarify. There's been a lot of speculation out in the media. One of the things that initially was said is that Riley was kicked out of Luke Bryan's bar and then the people that he was with were forced to stay inside to finish paying their tab, but that is being discredited by the bar. A member of a national news station had reached out and they had commented back and said no members of Riley's party were required to stay inside the venue to close any open tabs, and no one from our team prevented anyone from Riley's party from leaving the venue with him. They also released a statement and it is in reference to the whole Riley thing. In our effort to help the Nashville Metro Police Department's Missing Person's investigation of Riley Strain, we proactively provided detailed information after his visit to our business on March eighth. This information included all security camera footage photos of Riley at our establishment, with detailed timestamps, transaction records, and staff accounts. Additionally, we proactively engage in communication with the Tennessee Alcoholic Beverage Commission and will continue to communicate and provide any records needed to aid in their ongoing investigation. During Riley's visit to Luke's thirty two Bridge, our records show that he purchased and was served one alcoholic drink and two two waters. At nine thirty five pm, our security team made a decision, based on our conduct standards to escort him from the venue through our Broadway exit at the front of the building. He was followed down the stairs with one member of his party. The individual with Riley did not exit and returned upstairs. Our prayers continued to be with Riley's friends family during this difficult time and for his safe return. Okay, so we have a lot to unpack there. So from what I had initially heard, Riley was kicked out because he was overserved. But it looks like he had one beverage at Luke's Bar. One beverage, two waters. Obviously seemed like maybe he was trying to be responsible drinking water. Now there was other bars that Riley had visited, or another bar that Riley had visited prior to going to Luke's. It was only nine thirty five. It's not like this is a two am debacle where he's just like completely and totally smashed. But something happened inside of Luke's Bar that caused them to remove him. Now, there is a lot of talk, and I've seen numerous different things honestly over the last few months of people who have had something happen to them while they were in a bar, and there's really no explanation for why they had these experiences, and there's a lot of speculation that Riley might have been drugged at some point in time during the night, something was slipped in one of his drinks, because I do feel like stuff like this happens a lot and a lot of the times people are just able to sleep it off, but they have like no recollection of what happened or what they did, and that is really really scary. I do feel like, especially in these big cities where it's like a tourist attract, there are people out there who are nefarious and who want to get off on putting stuff in people's drinks and getting away with it. I don't know. I feel like nowadays we just have to be extra super careful because we just don't know. It is going to be really interesting to see what ends up coming out of this. I haven't really heard anything from the people that Riley was with as far as like what else transpired that night, if any of the other people in his party had any incidents or issues. I don't really even know how many people were there with him that night, but there is a lot of online speculation that he was drugged somewhere along the way, which I feel like could very well be. I'm not saying that that's what happened, but whatever happened that night, he left and he has not been seen since. And the video footage of him stumbling through Nashville, he is apparently very very intoxicated with looks to be very intoxicated, not acting right, just stumbling like hunched over. There's a lot going on, and who knows what is going on in that video. We really have no idea what's going on in those videos, but I will be sure to keep you guys updated on that. I am trying to stay on top of it. And it's really sad that his family has gone a whole week plus without hearing from their son. It seems like they were all really close, and I can't even imagine what they're going through because not only is he missing, but they don't really know what happened yet. So it's really sad and unfortunate. But I will be sure to keep you guys updated on that. And I believe that's all I have to talk about right now, So we are going to go ahead and get started with today's episode. Okay, guys, I am doing another mashup episode. I actually had planned on doing the first story that I'm going to cover solo, but there really isn't a lot of information on it, so I decided it is a really good time to do a mash up episode. So the first case I'm going to bring you is one out of Pasadena, Texas, which is not super super far from where I live, so it definitely piqued my interests, and I in researching it, which there's not a lot out there, found three other cold cases out of Pasadena, and that is what we are going to do this episode. We are going to talk for unsolved Pasadena, Texas cold cases. So I really like doing these mashup episodes because I think it's a good way to kind of get these different cases out there that don't necessarily have a lot of information, but yet there's still a really important story to tell. So I am going to be bringing you the stories today of Angela Kelly, Dita d Taylor. Maris the murder of Martha Alice Hernandez at the hands allegedly of her husband Narcisco Hernandez, who is still on the run after all of this time, and last, but not LEAs the murder of Samara K. Cribbs in nineteen seventy seven. So we are going to go through all of their stories one by one, and I am going to share about each and every one of them. Again, none of these cases are connected other than the fact that they all happened in Pasadena, Texas. So we are going to go ahead and dive right in, and first up is Angela Kelly. Angela Desiree Kelly was born on August twelfth of nineteen sixty one. She was born and raised in Harris County, Texas, and at the time of her death, she was seventeen years old and she was a student at Hastings High School. So Hastings High School is in a Leaf isd and it is in the Houston area. So the area that Angela was that day that she ended up getting killed was about thirty five thirty eight minutes from where she attended high school. Okay, so we're going to jump to the day of March twenty seventh of nineteen seventy nine. From what I've been able to tell, it looks like Angela was visiting one of her best friends, Sandra Beasley, who lived in Montrose in an apartment, so she was visiting Sandra at least from what I can tell, and Angela had told Sandra that she would be right back. She was going to run down to the convenience store and then needed to head to the pawn shop, which was less than a mile away, because she wanted to sell some jewelry. And the reason that she wanted to sell this jewelry is because she needed money for a bus ticket because she was planning on visiting her boyfriend who lived out of state in Arkansas the following week, so she needed to pawn some jewelry so that way she could pay for the spots ticket so she could see her boyfriend. So she left, she said goodbye to Sandra, and Sandra never saw her best friend again. Angela never made it to the convenience store to buy her coke, and she never made it to the pawnshop. So what happened between that afternoon and two thirty in the morning the next day, We're really not sure. Angela's body was found slumped against a curb in Pasadena, and the address of the area she was found a seventy eight hundred Red Bluff Road in Pasadena Texas, and this was about twenty miles away from where Angela originally was at that Mantrose apartment and someone had spotted her on their way home from work and immediately called the police because they realized that it was a body. So Angela was found with her hands tied behind her back, and her hands were tied behind her back with thick gray electric wire. There is a rope that was found clenched around her neck, and she had blue jeans on at the time that she disappeared and they were stained with dirt, and the white shirt that she had been wearing had been pushed up around her waist. The medical examiner did their job to see what the cause of death was and it was determined that Angela had been strangled. Sandra, who is Angela's best friend, is quoted as to saying, you're young, and you don't think anything is going to happen to you at five o'clock on a sunny day. This is where it gets hard, because I didn't insist on driving her, and you know, it's one of those regrets you live with for the rest of your life. End quote. So I imagine Sandra probably holds or held onto a lot of guilt because she was pretty much the last interaction that Sandra had besides whoever murdered her. And it's always like what ifs, You know, you never want to think. Hindsight is always twenty twenty. You never want to think that something bad is going to happen to someone until it does, and then once it does, you're just plagued with all of the what ifs in the world, just questioning everything you did that day, questioning your actions, why did it have to happen. But there's a really good chance that if Sandra had drove Angela that day, it might have been both of them that came across whatever horrific thing Angela came across. You just never know, And I hope that Sandra is able to find some peace in that she did all that she could do and nothing about this is her fault at all. So the last people to see Angela that day were Sandra and Sandra's boyfriend, and the investigator spent an extensive amount of time interviewing them and talking to them trying to figure out if there was anything going on with Angela that could have caused this to happen, if there was anyone that had any issues with her, but investigators nor anyone that Angela KNU could come up with anyone that would want to harm her, And there's really not a whole lot of evidence to go off of. So despite the fact that there was electrical wire used to bind her and a rope used to strangle her back in nineteen seventy nine when this happened, DNA was not what it is today. Sandra is very hopeful that with the new DNA technologies that are emerging every single day, that Angela's case will be solved. There is a lot, from what it seems a forensic evidence in Angela's case, So Lord willing, someday soon we will be able to put her case to rest and it will no longer be a cold case, because Angela deserves justice. She was only seventeen when her life was taken, and taken in such a horrific way that I just can't even imagine someone doing that to someone else, much less doing that to a seventeen year old child. Seventeen, you're still a child, I can't even imagine. I wasn't really able to find much else about Angela's family, her parents or any siblings that she had. There isn't really a lot out there about her, but I imagine that her whole family wants justice for her, and that is exactly what she deserves, and for Sandra to get a little bit of peace and resolution in the murder of her best friend. So I am going to be sharing some photos of Angela. I'll share kind of a rough map Google street view of the area that Angela is found in, and like always, please share so that way we can get Angela's story out there. The next case I want to talk about is the homicide of Debta Detaylor Maris. She was murdered in nineteen ninety. She was thirty five years old at the time. She was a married housewife. She lived with her husband, who was called Riley Ray Marris, and she had eighteen age daughter, and they lived in Pasadena, and she was last seen at her house July fourteenth of nineteen ninety and then she seemingly just disappeared and they unfortunately found her badly decomposed body about eight months later in a Liberty County rice field. And of course they did say that her death was a homicide, so the investigation into her death very much halted. Her husband was very evasive with the different family members of Dita and the police, and there's not really anything out there because he was very, very evasive. So I did some research as per usue, and he did pass away in twenty twenty. I found an obituary posted for him. He passed away in September of twenty twenty. His obituary does mention his daughter, Jennifer, who I can only gather is the daughter that he had with D to D, but she is not at all mentioned in his obituary at all, which I think is pretty interesting considering that was once upon a time his wife and she was seemingly taken from the world without any explanation. And then I found on webslus dot com, which is like the best website ever, somebody had posted in twenty twenty one and this was their post. I'm just going to read it straight out. Hi, not a sleuth, but I am living in the house of her former husband and I've been trying to learn as much as I can. Weird thing is I can't get into some interesting comments from police and neighbors. I'm not trying to slander anyone, but it's so suspicious. And I discovered this case. When looking at my home's history due to suspicious activity previously mentioned, you can imagine my shock to learn I might be living in a murderer's home. Anyway, whatever info you have on Wiley Marris, besides what I can see on Google, is greatly appreciated. One comment that is common is the amount of police that were frequently here. I'm failing to find any arrests. Was he friends with cops? I don't know. It's just a very weird situation and any help is appreciated. And they have somebody who replied back high Heather, I know right where you live. I grew up in Pasadena. Some of my close family lived in a subdivision across Spencer Highway in Cresthaven. Didn't even know miss d to d until many years after she was murdered. I did not personally know why, as you see in my post he passed. He apparently worked as a Shell at Shell as an instrumentation man. A very close family member of mine also worked for Shell while he was there and said that Wiley was an unassuming man, quiet to himself. My family member also mentioned that police wanted him for it, meaning that the police were trying to pin the murder on him, but they never could. I doubt Wiley was close friends to anyone in the Pasadena Police Department, as the cold case has remained on their site for many years, which mentioned that Wiley was not cooperative. In some research I did years ago, I stumbled across some hearsay that mentioned direct contact from someone from some with Wiley an area bars that said that he was never married, that some felt he was a bit odd. Other than speculation, there has never been anything to tie him to the murder that I am aware of, and now he has passed. I always thought it was wild how he continued to live in that house. Be well. Next comment was in a relationship with someone I know when he passed. Last I spoke to her about everything. She told me she was getting somewhere with settlements and was using funds to help continue to care for his mother. While I know, while I no longer speak to her or her daughters, I know there is was a legal battle going on over his estate. A rumor was also going around that it was found his daughter was not actually his again, all pasta dinner rumors, of course, allegedly allegedly, allegedly, I didn't know Wiley at all, but I do know many people that did. It seems fifty to fifty on who liked him and who didn't. I was told many times he killed her and got away with it. Unfortunately, it looks like it will forever be a cold case file. So all really really interesting information there regarding him Wiley and d to D and like lots of rumors and I really just don't know. I do feel like usually if someone is not cooperative with police, there's usually a reason, but unfortunately they never could pin anything on him, and now he has passed away, so I can't even try to fathom anything in regards to what else could have happened to her. Were they in a bad place in their marriage. We don't really know. We don't really know anything about the state of their relationship at the time of her death and her disappearance. But like always, it's so important to keep these cases out there because maybe somebody will be able to offer some insight into what potentially could have happened. So I am going to be sharing a picture of d to D and her husband and daughter that is posted accompanying her story, so you guys be sure to share that as well, next we're going to talk about the murder of a woman named Martha Alice Hernandez again out of Pasadena, Texas, October twenty seventh of nineteen seventy eight. So Martha was married to a guy named Narcisco Hernandez, and he is the one who allegedly killed her. And he has been on the run ever since nineteen seventy eight. That is a long long time to hide from the law. So she died as a result of a gunshot wound to the head and she was found by a family member in the driveway of her brother's residence, which is horrible and awful that that family member had to discover Martha in that condition. And Narcisco has been on the run ever since. He is about six y one two hundred or more pounds, and his hair may be graying, and he may be wearing glasses. He is considered armed and extremely dangerous. They do believe that he very well maybe using an alias, and he has family that live in San Jose, Patterson and the Central Valley of California, or even possibly in Mexico. So they do think that he is using an alias and hiding out. There is photos of him, but again they are extremely old and he obviously has aged quite a bit since nineteen seventy eight. I am going to be sure to share those pictures of him as well as if I can find a photo of Martha, I will share one of her as well. And we are going to move into our final case, which is the homicide of a woman named Samara kay Cribs. She went by Sammy. So this happened on March fifth of nineteen seventy seven, about two fifty seven in the morning. Officers were dispatched to thirty one oh one Spencer and it was in reference to a disturbing in the parking lot area behind an apartment, which was apartment number one seventy one. Officers arrived and they found owned Samara deceased lying on her back in a parking space. She had been stabbed one time with a single stab wound in her upper back near her spinal column. So Sammy was only thirty one when she was killed. When the investigators got to the scene, like I said, they did find her body, but it had been pushed against the front of a vehicle that was parked in the parking lot, and there was signs of a struggle. There was broken glass and debris scattered about. It was actually somebody that lived in the apartment complex that had heard the struggle and called the cops. He came outside and looked over his fence, and they do believe that what he saw was the person who murdered Sammy crouching on the ground. And this person is described as being a white male twenty to thirty years old, six feet tall, one hundred and seventy pounds, with a large build and dark shoulder length hair and at the time, and he was wearing a dark leather coat. Now again, this happened a long time ago, so police are no longer able to make contact with the person who initially made this nine to one one call. But whoever called nine to one one that night said that they heard somebody. They heard a commotion, so they looked out and they made brief eye contact with this person before running back to call nine one one. Sammy was attacked after she had arrived home from her boyfriend's house. She was unloading her laundry when she was attacked, so likely in the parking lot she was attacked. She was unloading her car of her stuff and her body was found with her pants and underpants pulled down to her knees and her shirt was pulled up, indicating that sexual assault may have been a motive for the attack. And then, of course, unfortunately the single stab wound. So there was a small light brown in nineteen seventy five to nineteen seventy seven Ford pickup truck that was seen leaving the area shortly after the police had arrived. They have never been able to locate this truck, but they do believe that the killer was inside of this vehicle. They didn't really have a lot of evidence to go off of in regards to Sammy's murder. They did say that they have a lot of hair fibers that were recovered and currently present day. Right now, they are working on trying to get the right amount to extract DNA and send it to CODIS to see if anything matches up. But overall, a really really sad story. Sam was originally from Anaheim, California, and had definitely had some struggles in her life. She had had some issues with drugs and had basically moved to Pasadena to live with her cousin to try to turn her life around and make things better for herself and everything was going really well for her and she was on the path of turning her life around. Her cousin had helped her get some work at a health studio and she was doing a really good job at that and was very well liked by everybody. Sam's cousin also said that she had lost her own son shortly before Sam was murdered, and it was really hard for her to grieve not only her son's death, but the fact that her cousin was so viciously murdered in a place where she was supposed to be safe, the parking lot of the place that she lived. And her cousin said that it's very comforting to know that the investigators are still currently working on her cousin's case, and she's quoted as to saying, I'm a person who hates the word closure because I think death. I think death never closes. It always hurts. But I do think it would give us closure as to the person who did it. End quote, and that is really what's important. This happened a long time ago, and again I always say it someone knows something. The person that did this didn't just do it one time and then move along and never do it again. This is a violent person who is willing to harm somebody just for the thrill of it. And it's sad and it should never happen. So this episode is four different cases that are entirely different. The only thing they really have in common is they all happened in Pasadena, Texas, and they are all unsolved, and they all deserve to have their stories told, and they all deserve justice, and their families all deserve that little bit of closure that comes with that justice and knowing what happened to their family member. And why.
